WEIRD WEDDING TRADITIONS IN LAS VEGAS

Marriage is considered a serious matter and most people would rather think a thousand
times before plunging into the unknown. A lot of people of marrying age opt to stay single
and free instead. But as the famous quote goes “love comes to you when you least expected
it”, this is what happened with this two career-driven couple. Matthew, 34yrs old, he was the
head of the Research and Development company in Europe. He is outgoing, adventurous,
smart and good looking. Anna, 29, was a fresh graduate from law school and was employed
as a junior researcher in the same company as Matthew’s. Ironic but true they first met in the
hallway going to the coffee machine. It was instant chemistry and love attraction. They were
so crazy in love with each other that with their newly discovered feeling they decided to get
married in a weird wedding tradition. The perfect place for that plan is to go to Las Vegas.

Wedding rituals and traditions vary greatly between cultures, religions, countries, and social
classes. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of marriage vows by the couple,
presentation of a gift (ring, flowers etc.), and a public proclamation of marriage by an
authority figure. All of these traditions are [present in Matt and anna’s wedding. Though they
have adopted the traditional Western custom of the white wedding (associated with the
wedding of Queen Victoria), in which a bride wears a white wedding dress and veil but with a
twist. The groom and the bride will be literally taking the plunge and dive from an airplane
wearing their wedding gown and suit.

It was a picturesque June afternoon when Anna and Matthew became husband and wife.
Skydive Las Vegas lets couples take their love to new heights and mix the rush of tandem
skydiving with wedded bliss. This one of a few weird wedding tradition available in Las
Vegas. Skydive can help daredevil and an adventurous couple like Matt and Anna take the
most literal of leaps into married life. Imagine saying “I do” in a PAC 750 XL aircraft while
traveling to an altitude of 15,000 feet. Inside the plane, they sealed the deal with a kiss, then
step out of the plane (attached to a tandem instructor, of course – because they’re crazy, not
suicidal). While freefalling at 120 to 140 mph, they saw incredible views of Hoover Dam,
Lake Mead, the Colorado River and the entire Las Vegas valley. How beautiful the backdrop
in their wedding photos and videos are.

Although their wedding was a weird one they still added regular wedding traditions and
rituals, including the old rhyme, “something old, something new, something borrowed and
something blue.” It is one of the few similarities countries across the globe have in common.
In many cultures, preparing for a wedding involves booking a venue, getting the wedding
dress and inviting the guests. But with unusual and weird wedding traditions it is clear just
how diverse weddings can be.

Anna and Matthew’s wedding was held on June 18 after the exhilarating plunge into a
blissful wedded life the couple, their family and friends headed to the reception at Monte
Lago Ballroom at the Hilton Lake Las Vegas. Boasting a dreamy color scheme of soft pink,
black, white and accents of gold, including gorgeous pink and white, rose bouquets and
centerpieces, lush golden candelabras, and a divine three-tiered blush pink wedding cake,
Their wedding was truly exceptional.
Vegas is all about being unconventional. Nobody knows this better than marriage-minded
visitors.Pretty much all of the larger hotels in Vegas had a wedding chapel of some sort,
ranging from elegant to kitschy. The famous Las Vegas “Welcome” sign and a storybook
castle are just two of the endless choices for Vegas wedding locations.

More than 80,000 couples come to Sin City to get hitched each year – in part because it’s so
easy to do. As long as both of you are at least 18 years old, a marriage license is the only
document you need. No blood tests are required. No waiting period is needed. Just give the
county clerk’s office $60 in cash and you’ll be on your way to wedded bliss.

The big question is how will you tie the knot? Many offbeat brides and grooms are ditchin’
tradition in Vegas. They don’t want to walk down a rose petal-strewn aisle. They’d rather
break molds to begin their excitement-filled lives together. Just like what Matthew and Anna
did by jumping all the way from a plane.

So for couples thinking outside the box when it comes to settling down, there’s a lot of wild
and crazy ways you can get married in Las Vegas. From jumping out of a plane and diving
underwater to, well, everything and everywhere in between, we’re certain that however you
choose to say “I do” in Vegas, your big day will be the first of many big adventures together.
