Example introduction:
Students today can easily access information online, so libraries are no longer necessary. Do you
agree or disagree?

There is no doubt that students are currently able to acquire information on the Internet in a much easier
way than in the past. While I accept that online sources of information have advantages over traditional
libraries, I would argue that there is still a great need for libraries in today's world.
2. BODY
• Body paragraph 1: State the reasons why you agree with some aspects.

First and foremost, …/ To begin with …/ Firstly, …/ The first one is that
Secondly, …/ Furthermore, …/

Example:
Students today can easily access information online, so libraries are no longer necessary. Do you
agree or disagree?

On the one hand, it is true that accessing information online has several clear benefits. The first one is that
online sources can store a huge amount of information that is greater than any physical library. This allows
researchers to easily get the information they need without having to travel to a local library. Furthermore,
students can look for information on the Internet whenever they want, while most libraries can only be
visited during several hours per day. As a result, it might be better for those who are busy to utilize online
information sources.

• Body paragraph 2: State the reasons why you disagree with some aspects.
On the other hand, I believe that …
Firstly, …/ The first reason is that …
Secondly, …/ In addition, …/ The second reason is that …

Example:
Students today can easily access information online, so libraries are no longer necessary. Do you
agree or disagree?
On the other hand, I believe that physical libraries still have special features that online sources can never
replace. Firstly, libraries usually provide quiet areas, which is a great environment for students to learn and
research since they are less likely to be distracted by things around them. For example, some of my
university friends claim that they can only concentrate when they are in a quiet study area in my university
library. Secondly, since everyone can easily write and post information on the Internet, these online sources
are not always reliable for research. Therefore, we need libraries whose staff members have the
responsibility to select and provide readers with the most credible materials.
3. CONCLUSION
Paraphrase the thesis statement with summary of the content in the body paragraphs.

Example:
Students today can easily access information online, so libraries are no longer necessary. Do you
agree or disagree?

In conclusion, while I agree that there are great benefits of getting information on the Internet, I disagree
with the idea that traditional libraries are no longer important.

PRACTICE
Some children can learn more effectively by watching TV. Therefore, children should watch TV
regularly both in school and at home. Do you agree or disagree?

In this day and age, most children have a tendency to be plugged into television. While I accept that they
can broaden their knowledge by watching television, I do not think that youngsters should glue their eyes
on TV’s screen frequently.

On the one hand, teaching by watching television is somehow a modern and effective approach of
education. The first reason is that interesting programs can attract more attention from young learners
through colorful images and lively sounds. As a result, youngsters will be more interested in studying and
then remember things better. Secondly, the television is an unlimited source of information from a various
range of fields such as science, art or politics that can help young viewers explore and develop their
interests. For example, if a person is keen on clothes, a show of fashion on TV may draw his/her
inspiration to become a fashion designer in the future.

On the other hand, too much screen time can result to some obvious negative impacts. To begin
with, screen time is harmful for children’s health. Children who consistently spend most time watching TV
are more likely to be overweight due to their lack of physical activities. Besides, if young students keep
their eyes glued to the screens regularly, they may face the risk of eye diseases. Another drawback is that
many TV programmes are not suitable for the children and thus can have detrimental effects on their
immature mind. They can mimic the bad habits of their favourite heroes and can become violent in many
cases.

All in all, there are various advantages for students to learn by television; however, I personally believe that
we should not encourage them watching TV frequently.
