“Geographically, the five heaviest plastic polluters are P.R. China, Indonesia, Philippines,
Vietnam and Sri Lanka, which between them contribute 56% of global plastic waste”
Christopher J. Rhodes 2018

“According to a Study by the University of Georgia, an estimated 3.22 million metric tons of
plastic waste is tossed annually into the ocean surrounding Indonesia” University of Georgia

“According to the United Nations, at least 800 species worldwide are affected by marine debris,
and as much as 80 percent of that litter is plastic. It is estimated that up to 13 million metric tons
of plastic ends up in the ocean each year” UN

Logical perspective:
Indonesia has a major plastic waste problem on its hands. Plastic is everywhere, aside from
plastic bags, one can find everyday objects such as tables and chairs made from plastic too. This
is probably due to the fact that plastic products are cheap to produce Indonesia. The ubiquity of
plastic bags combined with the lack of awareness of how damaging plastic waste can be on the
environment.
