Insight Paper: Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) Philippines

My chosen business in the Philippines is the Jollibee Foods Corporation. Jollibee is the largest fast-food
chain in the Philippines, with over 1,150 stores nationwide. With these number of stores nationwide
plus its branches nationwide, surely, they also have a competitive and worthy compensation plan that
meets their employees' satisfaction.

When it comes to the average Jollibee daily wage, it ranges from approximately Php 376 per day for
Service Crew to Php 500 per day for Food Service Worker. The Jollibee service crew specifically has Php
56/hr. This hourly pay is much better than its competitor McDonald's for example who pays their service
crew for only Php 45/hr. With this comparison, Jollibee pays more. In addition, several employees said
that the pay is decent enough but there are also some who said that the pay is low and that it can't
equate to the very high pressure at work. Furthermore, Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) have employee
benefits like job training, health and life insurance, free food, education assistance, team outings and
soft skills training. Based on my further research, JFC has a good training program and soft skills training
including personality and technical skills. Also, under JFC is the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) which
also helps in terms of education assistance especially in supporting financially disadvantaged high
school graduates seeking a bachelor's degree, the JGF, offers scholarships and management training in
any of its JFC stores. It also has health insurance like in PhilHealth, it covers the employee itself as well
as his/her listed family beneficiaries. Apart from this, Jollibee has given its employees vitamin
supplements to boost their immune system to which I think is one of the best moves to cope with the
new normal because healthcare is still very vital especially nowadays. Jollibee also has team outings for
better teamwork and employee relations which also benefits and motivates worker to stay longer.
Additional to the mentioned employee benefits above of JFC in the Philippines are the paid sick leaves
which means an employee will still be paid even if he/she is on leave. Another is paid holidays/vacation.
This is the same with paid sick leave though this one is for holidays and vacation-meaning, a worker will
still be paid during holidays and vacation. Lastly, there is also the flex time/ flexible schedule benefit for
employees which is the alternative arrangements other than the standard work hours, workdays, and
workweek.

Overall, with 93% rate salary as high or average (JobStreet.com, 2020), Jollibee Foods Corporation really
pays higher than other companies in the same industry. Even though there are some who said that their
salary is low, there is more employees who said that they are satisfied with their salaries and the
benefits that they could get plus the training and experience that they had undergone is something that
will also make them an effective person in life. Therefore, Jollibee's compensation plan is good enough
to make their assets (employees) stay despite the high pressure working environment it has.
