Title

Effectiveness of pulverized glass and stone clay as an aggregate to cement

Statement of the problem

57% of all solid waste in the Philippine on the year 2015 is labeled as residential waste.
It is a conglomerate of different debris and junk including glass. 28% of this waste is recyclable
and can be put to use again, but not for glass waste. If glass bottles are found whole then it can
be reused again however if the glass is broken, it automatically becomes waste because it can’t
be used anymore.
The general problem of this study is to investigate the compressive strength of
pulverized glass and stone clay as a substitute to cement on concrete. Specific problems that
arise from utilizing waste glass are the following:

1. How can the compressive strength of the pulverized glass and stone clay be
tested?
2. What will be the ideal grinded glass and powdered stone clay to cement ratio?
3. Can the product be used in masonry?

Possible solution

The solution is to utilize waste glass to produce a useful construction material and to
decrease the glass wastes in the community that causes pollution as well as being a hazard that
may bring physical injuries to people.
