Nashville, Tennessee - The Tennessee School Boards Association annually honors a school board for
excellent service. To be considered for this award, school boards must be a TSBA Board of Distinction;
develop, apply and monitor policy; be involved in long-range planning; promote quality education including
use of social media; involved with the legislature, city/county commission, State Board of Education,
community and staff; participate in board development activities, including boardsmanship award levels for
each member; and exhibit a positive relationship with the media.

Assisting school boards in effectively governing school districts.
- 2022 Niche Rankings recognized the board as #1 Best School District in the First Region, #4 in
Tennessee, and Top 5% in the Nation.
- Their high school won a 2020 College Success Award from GreatSchools.org.
- One of their middle schools has been recognized as a Microsoft Showcase School for the 4th
consecutive year.
- Highland Elementary School has been recognized as a Bronze Level Demonstration School for
Response to Instruction and Intervention for Behavior (RTI2-B) by the Tennessee Department of
Education.
- Since the beginning of the pandemic, the nutrition team has served 106,516 meals through its
curbside pickup program.
- Their board members are active in the TSBA Boardsmanship program.
- All board members serve on at least one district-wide committee.
