How to write a theoretical frame work

Theories are discussed deductively. John Creswell (2014) suggests that a discussion of your
theoretical perspective should include the following: the central propositions of the theory,
past uses and applications, and a discussion about how the theory specifically relates to your
proposed study (p. 61). It explains the theories in which your study is grounded. One should
describe the theory using the latest literature; show how the theory has evolved. You should
critique the theory by discussing its strengths and limitations. Explain why despite its
weaknesses you have chosen it for the study and show how it applies to your study.
Purpose statement
Research Purpose Statement Briefly state the purpose of the proposed study, focusing on the
primary objective or causal relationship(s) being investigated. To do so, clearly state the main
problem or phenomenon, the variables being investigated (at a minimum, the independent and
dependent variables), the population of interest, and the theory being tested (if applicable).
