THE CHAPEL HOUR: Continuing the Holistic Formation amidst Crisis

The tradition is challenged yet Hope intensifies the movement of Faith to persist the Living Ministry of
the Almighty because NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE.

It has been a part (tradition) of the Divinity School of Silliman University to have the Chapel every week,
on Wednesdays and Fridays. This Chapel hour is intended for the Holistic Development of Students who
commits themselves to the life and work of the ministry. This serves as an avenue for the everybody ---
the seminarians, the faculty and staff of the department – to hone their calling into work, as they are given
the opportunity to Preach, learn and Sing Hymns, and be able to understand and live God’s word.

BUT
The existence of the COVID-19 changes this—the implementation, the mode, and the manner were
greatly affected; the essence of being together, the opportunity to be with others, the avenue for physical
solidarity, and to celebrate God’s great love with all the people in the department are just some of the
things that aren’t possible to have because of the said crisis.

BUT
With the administration’s and students’ amplified Faith in continuing the service, the Chapel Hour
flourished amidst the critical time. The desire to yearn God’s splendid and marvellous deed despite of the
difficulty, the body made everything possible. It is still celebrated once a week, on Wednesdays. The
transition from face-to-face service to Virtual Chapel Hour did not just continue but progress the life-
work, as it expanded its ministry. The scope of the purpose has stretched to thousand miles, as this can be
celebrated nationwide—the alumnus, the local churches, the anointed Ministers from different places; it
even calls for everyone to render their talents and skills in a form of choir, song, dance, or thru words.
And with the continued devotions and retreats of the different KOINONIA Families, everything is
supplemented.

The situation that we are into right now afflicted various kinds of life but this call us to remember that no
matter what challenges that will come, let us not be afraid. Let us stand firm and move forward; we did
not come here far too back down and quit. God can change impossible situations. He sometimes moves
mysteriously, but will provide what you need in miraculous ways. And it is going to be far better than you
can ever imagine.
