    Perihepatitis, also known as Fitz-Hugh Curtis syndrome, is inflammation of the liver capsule and peritoneal surfaces that can occur with pelvic inflammatory disease. It was first linked to gonococcal salpingitis in 1920 and is also associated with Chlamydia trachomatis infections. The syndrome causes inflammation in the area of the liver and abdominal lining.

    Perihepatitis (Fitz-Hugh Curtis syndrome) occurs in the setting of pelvic

    inflammatory disease when there is inflammation of the liver capsule and peritoneal
    surfaces of the anterior right upper quadrant. The syndrome was first associated
    with gonococcal salpingitis in 1920 and subsequently with C. trachomatis.
