Learning Outcomes

1. Discuss the nine responsibilities of a Filipino citizen

2. Determine how the nine responsibilities are executed

3. Define citizen, citizenship, duty, obligation, and right

4. Relate right to duty and obligation

5. Provide examples of duty, obligation, and right of a Filipino citizen

6. Determine the following: where and how to display, hang, or hoist the Philippine flag; what not
and what to do with the Philippine flag; how to sing the Philippine National Anthem; and recite the
Pledge of Allegiance

Directions: The following are the responsibilities of a Filipino Citizen. Give two ways on how these
responsibilities may be executed/done.

1. Be loyal to the Republic

a. uphold the Constitution and obey the laws

b. cooperate with the duly constituted authorities in the attainment and preservation of a
just and orderly society.

2. Honor the Philippine flag

a. As a sign of respect, all persons shall stand at attention and face the Philippine flag

b. all persons shall execute a salute by placing their right palms over their left chests.

3. Defend the state

a. secure the sovereignty of the State and the integrity of the national territory.

b. serve and protect the people. The Government may call upon the people to defend the
State and, in the fulfillment thereof, all citizens may be required, under conditions
provided by law, to render personal, military or civil service.
4. Contribute to the development and welfare of the country

a. Get out and vote

b. Stop participating in corruption.

5. Uphold the Constitution and obey the laws

a. bear true faith and allegiance to it

b. obey the laws, legal orders and decrees promulgated by the duly constituted
authorities

6. Cooperate with the duly constituted authorities in the attainment and preservation of a just and
orderly society

a. Follow the government employee’s order

b. Maintain the orderliness of the society

7. Exercise the rights responsibly and with due regards for the rights of others

a. Obey the laws

b. Have a freedom to speak out

8. Engage in gainful work to assure himself and his family a life worthy of human dignity

a. Apply for a job that is worthy and can sustain your family’s need

b. Do not settle for a job that will make your life in trouble and will make you regret in the future

9. To register and cast his vote, if qualified to vote

a. Choose those who are deserving leaders

b. Choose a leader who will make better plans for his/her people
