Starbucks workers in New York are
organizing to form first US union
Starbucks, American company that is the largest coffeehouse chain in the
world. Its headquarters are in Seattle, Washington.Starbucks highlights its
mission as “to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup
and one neighbourhood at a time.” And its vision is to “treat people like
family, and they will be loyal and give their all.
Internal Environment: Building blocks of competitive advantage
 Low Employee productivity
 Unionization of Employees bring dissatisfaction to customers
 Lower customer response time

The article is about the start bucks Employee union who are not satisfied
with understaffing, low seniority pay, and different communication
problems within the corporations which they want to resolve by unions.
Understaffing had been a big issue according to the workers. They could
not manage the customers as they have to serve them and at the same time,
they have to interact them. Due to the lack of staff and time they feel hard
to do that. They workers believe themselves as a partner of the Starbucks.
One of the spokesperson of the Starbucks said, “While Starbucks respects
the free choice of our partners, we firmly believe that our work environment,
coupled with our outstanding compensation and benefits, makes unions
unnecessary at Starbucks. We respect our partners’ right to organize but
believe that they would not find it necessary given our pro-partner
environment.”
