‘| TECN PLANTAS Engine Governing Systems ‘The D 250 seties actuator is a rotary output, linear torque, computer designed, [Governor proportional sorvo, mado to improved Contsel lengine performance and quick response Kit for engine governing systems. ‘The speed of operation ofthe actuator is faster than competitive mechanical units “This rotary throttle-postioning davice is an ideal choice for engines tyovcally up to a 500 horsepower rating. Applications include most block injection pumps, with fr without mechanical governors, distrioutor type pumps or macium sized carbureted natural gas engines. “The actuator was designed for falsate operation. An intemal spring retums the thoitle to the shutoff positon when the actuator is de-energized “This dasign combinas fast operation, wider rotation angles and reliability. Different model actuator can operate with 12, 24 or 32-rott battery supplies. DESCRIPTION “Tho actuator is an elactremagnetie sorvo. ‘Amagnetic speed sensor usually a MPU generates an AC frequency signal, which is proportonal io engine speed. This signal is sant to the electronic speed control unit “Governor” and compared with the preset engine speed seitng IFthe both signals are not identical, a change in current from the speed contro! unit changes the ‘magnetic foree in tho actuator, which, n tum, causee rotation of the actuator shat, adjustnig tho fueltto the engine, and cause the engine speed to be equal tothe preset engine speed setting. ‘Shaft rotation is proportional to actuator currant counterbalanced by the internal spring and injector pump force. ‘The actuator housing is designed to protect it against harsh engine environments. No maintenance Is necessary in normal operation. INSTALLATION The actuator must be rigidly mounted as close as possible to the throttle lever on the engine Vibration rom the engine doas not affect the operation of the actuator, as long as they are mounted tooether, Low fiction and lightweight linkage must be used to provide cantrol and fast speed response. ‘| TECN PLANTAS High quality 1od end bearings must be used. Hinh ‘rction causes instabilty and problems. A finkane arrangement alaws the actuator to contra the fuel contal lever at minimum and maximum thromle positions with some excess travel beyond these postions for snutaff and full fuel respectvely. (Ths is very important) When werking with inear contral systam, tis important to abtain a linear to 1 relationship between actuator stioke and fuel delivery. The lever on the actuator should be neary paral to the pump lever at the mid fuel position (22e fig 1), For operation with noo-ineat fuel conttel, such as carburated, PT Pumps (Cummins), itis desirable 10 obtain 2 non-linear relationship between actuator stroke and fuel delivery. A nan-inear fuel systom reaults when moro engine poner is developed for a given stroke at position of low ful settings than at hich fuel settings. inthis case, the levers should be paralle| a full load position. (see fig 2) saseeg : (eH 4 “ef |b Ley ial Fig. Fig2 ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: The engine must have an independent shutdown mechanism to prevent Joss of engine contrel, which can cause equipment damage or personnel injury. Manually confirm that all linkages are free and not binding and fiction is minimal, before starting the engine, push the throtle to the ful fuel position and release it, It musi return freely and instantly to the shutof position, ra-check all installations to insure that all linkage and levers are securely fastened. Have another person un standby to manually stop the engine if it goes over-speed, Alter starting the engine make sure that iinkages can be optimized by measuring the voltage acioss the actuator, at full load and no load (suggested veltage values are shown in the table below). Low actuator voltage can cause instability and poor performance at lower ranges. To increase actuator voltage, move the linkage to a lower hole on the actuator lever. To increase or decrease the ne load voltage adjusts the length of the link between the levers. Ifthe ratio of tne actuator lever length to throttle length i too large, there will be very litle actuator movement and speed control will tond to be unstablo. Smaller angies of actuator travel may improve transient performance, but will reduce available force at the ‘vel eentrol lever. Allowing the actuator fo operate through at least one hatf cf its stoke will usually provide near optimum ‘| TECN PLANTAS (°o--4. ‘Actuator Voltage Rango ievols, 2avols No Load 42Vols 12.6 Volts Full Load 63 Vols 18.7 Vols SPECIFICATIONS PERFORMANCE Avaliable Torque Max 22 tt (2.7 Nm} Maximum Operating Shafi Angular Travel 25 degree Cwiccw POWER INPUT Operating Voltage 72422 voe Normal Operating Current 2BAat I2VOC Maximum Currant-Continuously Rated 82Aat12V0C Poiarty case isoiatea ENVIROMENTAL Temperature Range 70° to +220°F (55° to + 100°0) Relatwe Humiaty Lup to 100% case Fungus proof and corrosion resistant PHISICAL, Dimensions ‘See Diagram Weight 731b@.8Ka) Mounting ‘any postion RELIABILITY Vibration upto 200 @ 50-500 Hz Testing 100% Tested
