Rounding

ex. 5000 2 sig fig: lower bound 4950 because two sig fig upper 5050

ex. calculate the upper and lower bounds for the area of the rectangle 10.0x7.5
upper:10.05x7.55(7.5+0.05)
lower:9.95x7.45(7.5-0.05)

If the question includes division then upper / lower and lower / upeer

eg.40/10 then 40.5/9.5 and 39.5/10.5

square root mn =sq root m x sq root n

throw two common things out when simplifying surds

(sq root m/n)=sq rt m/ sq rt n

Rational(2) can be wrritten in fractional a/b and

a and b are ontegers
Irrational numbers(sq rt 2) cant

To rationalize denominator
a/sq rt b, multiply be sqrt b/ sqrt b
ex
1/sqrt 2 = 1/sqrt 2 x sqrt 2/sqrt2
=sqrt2/2
