Introduction

BTEPS-DAS Door Access Management Software is to manage User Information, Door


Information, Floor Information, Assign Door and Floor Access Rights to User,and query
Access Records.

Information in this document, including URL and other Internet website references, is

1.1 Title Bar


Display application name and version.

According to different operation, wizard page will guide user to add or modify software

2 Common Used Function


2.1 Auto login
In Menu bar, [File][Auto Login] button, enable or disable Auto Login function. After auto
login enable, subsequent login will not require to enter Operator Name and Password.
Refer to Figure 2.1.1.

2.2 Modify Login Password
After Operator Login, select [System Setting] [Change Password], enable to modify
current operator login password. Refer to Figure2.2.1.

3 Basic Function
3.1 Department Management
3.1.1 Add new Department
Generally, operator need to add department before add new user. Click[New] button,
select parent department, enter department ID(software will generate a department
code, which can modify now or later) and department name, click OK to finish. Refer to
Figure3.1.1.1 and3.1.1.2.

3.1.2 Modify Department
Select [System Setting] [Department] select a department to modify Department
ID, Name on the right side of the working area. Refer to Figure3.1.2.1.

3.1.3 Delete Department
Select [System Setting] [Department] select a department, click Delete button at
tool bar to delete selected department. Delete selected department is not allow if it has
sub department or user.
3.1.4 Department display sorting
At [System Setting] [Other Setting] page, it can configure department to sort by
department ID or Name in department list.
3.1.5 Search Department
Select [System Setting] [Department] [Find], enter the name to quickly search the
department for fast operation. It also support wild search. Refer to Figure3.1.5.1.

3.1.6.1 Set Default Access Template
Select [System Setting] [Department] Select a department, enable binding of
department's to a default access template. Refer to Figure3.1.6.1.1.

3.1.6.2 Use Default Access Template
After binding default template to department, when add new user, import new user from
Excel or batch add user, it will enable the selection of assigning the bind default
template to new user.
1) Import new user from Excel and select assign department default access template
to auto assigned access right. Refer to Figure3.1.6.2.1.

4) If new user don't have any access rights, software will prompt 'Do you want to apply
default access template to this user’ when go to Access Rights page. Refer to
Figure3.1.6.2.4.

3.2 User Management
3.2.1 Display Setting
3.2.1.1 Advanced Information
Select [System Setting] [Default Setting], able to setup the advanced display
information such as Gender, Mobile Number and Email in user page. These doesn't
display by default.
3.2.1.2 User Defined Field Setting
1) Add defined field name
Select [System Setting][User Field Setting], able to add user defined field. Refer
to Figure3.2.1.2.1.

2) Edit user defined field property
Name: Field Name.

Style: Field format can select as Text, Number and Date. If select as Text, can enter
any text. If select as Number, can enter any number. If select as Date, the value
should be a date format.
 Memory: If enable, the value enter will be memorize for subsequent
selection and no need to enter again.
 Show: To display or hide this user field on user information page.
 Default: After edit the default value, the user's field value will direct fill with
the default value and no need to enter again.

3) Delete defined field name


Select defined field, click [Delete] button on right side to delete the defined field
name. If the field is used by user, its name cannot be delete to prevent accidental
operation.

3.2.1.3 User List Display


In user list, right click on any department and select view to setup user's display method
in the list. Refer to Figure3.2.1.3.1.

3.2.2 Add User Wizard
In [System Setting] [Default Setting], enable information to setup during add user
Wizard, e.g. take user photo, enter user defined field information.
3.2.3 User Photo Size
When import user photo to system, auto adjust photo image size according system
setting: Small, Medium and Large.
3.2.4 Add User
3.2.4.1 Add via Wizard
Select a department at user list and click [New] button to add new user for this selected
department. Refer to Figure3.2.4.1.1.

Enter user's information to Excel file according fix template format, then select [File]
[Import User] Open file to choose importing Excel fileClick [Check Validity].If all
data is valid, click [Import To DB]. Refer to Figure3.2.4.2.1 andFigure3.2.4.2.2.

3.2.4.3 Batch add user by department


Select a department and right click[Department of batch operation] [Batch add
user] Enter Card ID, User ID, User NameClick [Add] button. If 'User name same as
user id' is selected, no need to enter user ID, just enter card ID and Enter to
automatically generate User ID and User Name. Refer to Figure3.2.4.3.1

3.2.4.4 Auto Generate User ID


If User ID auto generated function is enable, there is no need to enter User ID when add
new user.
1) Enable User ID auto generated function
Go to [System Setting][Other Setting] to enable User ID auto generated function.
2) User ID auto generate rule
Enable the User ID auto generation by system or department predefine rule. Only
need to enter Prefix value and starting value. Refer to Figure3.2.4.4.1.

[System Setting][Default Setting], to setup User ID max length. If the system using
Time Attendance Terminal, if need to display User ID on the LCD, the max length can
only set to 8 due to LCD display limitation.
3.2.4.6 User ID Format
[System Setting] [Default Setting], if select [User ID must be upper case
alphanumeric], User ID cannot contain Chinese characters and lower case.
3.2.4.7 Get Credential function
If this function is enable, it provide a quick method to add new user by reading user
information directly from credential using special scanner. Currently this function only
support Chinese and Malaysia Identification card.
1) Enable this function
[System Setting] [Default Setting] select [Use electronic ID]. After enable this
function, system auto match credential card field with user defined field and
overwrite credential card field name.
2) Quick add User
Go to [User] pageselect a department[New], Enter User ID in add user Wizard,
then click [Scan Electronic] to auto retrieve user information from credential card
and click [ok] to complete the process. Refer to Figure3.2.4.7.2 and
Figure3.2.4.7.3.

3) Modify User defined information


Right click User and select [Scan Electronic] can modify user field information
according credential card. Refer to Figure3.2.4.7.4.

3.2.5 Modify User Information

1) Select User in user list to modify User ID, Name, PIN, Department, Photo, Email,
Mobile number, Gender, Defined fieldon the working area.Refer to Figure3.2.5.1.

2) Right click a department Select [Department of batch operation] [Batch


Change Department], select a new department to modify all users to new
department. Refer to Figure3.2.5.2 and Figure3.2.5.3.

3.2.6 Import Photo


Batch import user photo is supported by selecting the folder which contain all user photo
image file name as User ID.
In menu bar, select [File] [Import User Photo], select User photo folder, then click
[Import to DB] button. After import, if there is some photo User ID doesn't exist in
system, software will generate a txt log file in photo folder to indicate these User ID.
3.2.7 User display sorting
In [System Setting] [Other Setting] page to modify user display sorting.

3.2.8 Find User
Go to User management page, click [Find] button at tool bar.
3.2.8.1 Find User by User ID
When find by User ID, if select [Match Whole Word], then need to enter full User ID. If
[Match Whole Word] not selected, software will do wild search. Refer to Figure3.2.8.1.1.

3.2.8.2 Find User by name
When find by name, if select [Match Whole Word], then need to enter full User Name. If
[Match Whole Word] not selected, software will do wild search.
3.2.8.3 Find User by Card ID
When find by Card ID, if select [Match Whole Word], then need to enter full Card ID. If
[Match Whole Word] not selected, software will do wild search.
3.2.8.4 Find User by Department
When find user by department, it has the selection to find all users, users with access
rights only or users without access right of the selected department. Refer to
Figure3.2.8.4.1.

3.2.8.5 Find User by User Group
When find user by User Group, it has the selection to find users with access rights only
or users without access right of the selected User Group.
3.2.8.6 Find User by User Field
When find user by user defined field, select user defined field name first, then enter user
field value to find users whose field value match the enter value.
3.2.8.7 Find by Door
When find by door, select doors to find users with or without these doors access right.

When find user by import excel file, if file contain User ID and Name, software find by
User ID and Name; if file only contain User ID, software find by User ID.

To find user by card effective and expiry date.
3.2.8.11 Find User by Card Status
To find user by card inhibited, lost, must use finger or no expiry date status. Refer to
Figure3.2.8.11.1.

1) Enable to combination query user by department, User defined field information
and door access rights.

2) Enable to combination query user by User Group, User defined field information
and door access rights.

3.2.9 Resign User


3.2.9.1 Batch resign by department
Right click a department in user listselect [Department of batch operation] [Batch
resign user] to resign all users of the selected department. If need to delete a
department, can resign all user under the department with this batch function first.
3.2.9.2 Batch resign by multiple selection
Multiple selection of user in list with Ctrl/Shift key to delete all selected user.
3.2.9.3 Resign Single User
Right click user in list to select resign and enter resign reason to resign selected user.
3.2.9.4 Restore resigned user
[Advanced Setting][Resign Admin], choose user in resigned users list and click
restore. Refer to Figure3.2.9.4.1.

3.2.9.5 Delete resigned user
[Advanced Setting][Resign Admin], choose user in resigned users list and click
delete. To avoid accidental operation, system don't allowed to delete users who resign
less than 90 days or have open account in POS system. Operator have to close user's
account in POS system first before delete.
3.2.9.6 Find Resigned User
Enable to find resigned user by resigned date, Name, User ID, Email, Mobile Number,
Gender, User Defined field. Refer to Figure3.2.9.6.1.

3.2.9.7 Display of resigned user list
If select [Group by department] in Resign Admin page, it will sort resigned user by
department. Refer to Figure3.2.9.7.1.

Right click a user in user listselect [Replace]and enter new user information in pop up
window to replace the selected user. Refer to Figure3.2.9.8.1.

3.3 Card Management
3.3.1 Add Card
Select a user in user listgo to [Card Information] pageclick [Add] buttonenter
Card ID in pop up windowclick OK to finish assign a new card for user. Refer to
Figure3.3.1.1.

3.3.4 Modify Card Information
Select a user in user listgo to [Card Information] page to modify card information.

3.3.4.1 Lost Card
If user lost their card, select [Lost] in card list and click [Save] button at tool bar to set
the selected card in lost card mode.
3.3.4.2 Inhibited
Select [Inhibited] in card list and click [Save] button at tool bar to inactive selected card.
3.3.4.3 Modify Expire Date
1) To enable Card expiry control by default when add new user
[System Setting][Default setting][Enable card expiry control when add new
user] to enable card expiry control function by default when add new user. This is
not enable by default.
2) Set default expiry date
[System Setting][Default setting] [Card expiry date settings] to set card default
expiry date when add new user. The default setting can be a fixed date or number
of year from the current system date.
3) Modify single card expiry date
Select a user in user listgo to [Card Information] page to enable or disable card
expiry function and modify expiry date.
4) Batch modify card expiry date by department
Right click a department in user list select [Department of batch operation]
[Batch modify expiry date] to modify all user's card expiry date of the selected
department. Refer to Figure3.3.4.3.4.

3.4 Device Management
3.4.1 Communication Server
3.4.1.1 Add Communication Server
[Device Management] [Communication Server], click [New] button toenter Machine
Name, Default Port, Serial Port in pop up window and click OK to finish add
communication server. Refer to Figure3.4.1.1.1.

3.4.1.2 Modify Communication Server
Select a communication server in list to modify its name, Default port and Serial port at
right side working area. Refer to Figure3.4.1.2.1.

3.4.1.3 Delete Communication Server
Select the communication server you want to delete, click [Delete] button at tool bar.
3.4.2 Controller Management
3.4.2.1 Add new Controller
[Device Management] [Controller Setting]click [New] button to add a new controller
by following the pop up Wizard.

1) Select controller location. If there are more than one communication server in
system, need to select controller connect to which communication server. You can
also added controller below a parent controller. Refer to Figure3.2.2.1.1.

2) Set Controller ID and select controller type. System don't allowed to modify
Controller ID and Type after controller is added. Wrong setting will result controller
unable to communicate normally with BTEPS software. Controller Type define the
number of doors supported.

3) Communication Mode between controller and communication server (CS) includes:


TCP/IP, TCP/IP Converter, Serial Comm.
 TCP/IP: Suitable for network controller. Controller directly connect to LAN
network and need to set controller IP address.
 TCP/IP Converter: Controller connect to TCP/IP Converter via RS485, and

Go to [Device Management] [Controller Setting] page to select a controller in list and

7) Modify Controller Alarm Priority
In Monitoring System, if two controller located in different map generate alarm at
same time, the high priority controller's map will pop up first.
8) Modify Controller Secure PIN
To set three secure PIN for every controller, and user can directly open door via
enter one of them on access reader keypad. Secure PIN should be 4~8 digits
number.

9) Stop Communication
If stop communication is selected, system will stop all download (user, card,
parameters) and stop all records, alarm status receive from controller.
10) Modify Communication Mode
[Device Management] [Controller Setting] Comms Mode page to modify
communication Mode, settings and encryption type.

3.4.2.3 Delete Controller


[Device Management] [Controller Setting]select a controller in list click [Delete]
button. Before delete a controller, its sub-controller must delete first. Controller cannot
be restored after delete.
3.4.2.4 Controller display sorting
In [System Setting] [Other Setting] page to modify controller sorting by Name or
Code.
3.4.2.5 Update Controller
After replacing a new controller, need to download all setting, user and card information
to this new controller. Select this controller in the list and click [Upgrade Controller]
button in tool bar. Refer to Figure3.4.2.5.1. At status bar able to check the progress of
the updating.

[System Setting] [Other Setting]  [Fingerprint upload]select “Manually upload
fingerprints registered on the controller”. If this function is enable, CC will check every
30 minutes and find user who have enrolled fingerprint in the controller for past 30 days
and has “must use finger” enable but don’t have fingerprint in software database, DAS
will flash a red alarm in status bar. By clicking this alarm, software will pop up upload
fingerprints page, operator can get fingerprints from controller via click [OK] button.

3.7 Floor Management


3.7.1 Add Lift Controller
[Device Management] [Controller Setting]click [New] button to add a new lift
controller follow the pop up Wizard.

3.7.2 Assign Floors to Area


When add lift controller, system will generate floors. Software doesn't display these
floors under area by default, need to manually assign floors to area. [Device
Management][Area Setting], select an Area in the list, click [Edit] button and follow the
pop up Wizard to drag floors from left to right side . Refer to Figure3.7.2.1.

5.1.1 Report Description
To query all user's User ID, Name, Department, Card ID.
5.1.2 How to query

effective date, Card expiry date, Super user, Number of fingerprint. This report support
