DRAFT: GREEN BUSINESS INITIATIVE

Presented by: XYZ

School: ABC – City Campus

INTRODUCTION:
“ FULL PLANET, EMPTY PLATES ”
This initiative aims to counter food shortages and help reduce food insecurity that plagues
our
world. In the US alone, of the estimated 125 to 160 billion pounds of food that goes to waste
every year, much of it is perfectly edible and nutritious. We are living in an era where 12
percent of American households are food insecure and reducing food waste by simply 15
percent could provide enough sustenance to feed more than 25 million people each year.
Simply imagine the impact of food wastage worldwide, it is high time for us as individuals to
take initiative, starting from a microscopic level.

Product/service:
This business initiative is a service which aims to contact all restaurants, homes and farms
across Pakistan and collect their excess food stocks and leftover meals, featuring produce
which
is about to reach their expiry dates, food meals which are not on demand in the present
season, leftover unseasonal fruits/vegetables, crops left on the fields as well as any unused
food scraps. The food will then be distributed amongst the unfortunate at a very low and
reasonable price.

Brand Name:
ZAROORAT (based on helping those in need)

Aim of the business:

“We are all cells in the same body of humanity.”

It is our responsibility not just as WWF Eco interns, but also as humans to help conserve
nature,
protect our planet, minimize wastage, and aid those in need. Humanity is the fundamental
principle of our initiative and therefore, we are working to help those in need, those who
deserve facilitation by distributing food collected from various resources amongst them at a
very reasonable price.

4-P Strategy:
1. P Product
2. P Pricing
3. P Place
4. P Promotion

PRODUCT
Features:
1. Every restaurant, house and farm will communicate with us through an app that we
have launched “Zaroorat” or through our website as well.
2. A database will be established and every user of the app will upload their food leftovers
and excess stocks etc. on their app, so that we at Zaroorat can easily track and transport
the food.
3. The food will be distributed in the underprivileged areas of Pakistan at a very low and
reasonable price.

Advantages:
1.The food stocks will be distributed in the underprivileged areas of numerous cities of
Pakistan
and help eradicate food insecurity in these areas as well as counter starvation

2.Employment will be provided on a larger scale to those most vulnerable to this pandemic,
by
offering them the opportunities to become riders/drivers and to deliver the food stock to their
respective underprivileged areas
3. Food wastage will be minimized and we will be making a better usage of our resources.

Disadvantages:
1. There is a possibility that whilst targeting the population most directly affected by the
pandemic, the riders employed are not as qualified and may lack for instance basic
requirements like a driver’s license.
2. This system may be unreliable at times in the sense that the amount of food collected
every day will vary greatly, thus directly affecting our target audience.
3. The quality of the food may be compromised at times.

PRICING:
We are working towards a more brighter, positive future, one that does not involve millions of
citizens losing their lives annually due to starvation and malnourishment. The purpose of our
initiative is not primarily profit but helping humanity and countering the strikingly high rates of
food insecurity, therefore we have decided to charge relatively low prices for the meals we
distribute.
We will be utilizing essentially a price penetration strategy by charging low prices initially and
then we will observe the response of our customers to decide any further changes for our
prices.

We will mostly be facing two costs:

a) The salaries to be paid to the riders
b) The cost of the petrol which will be used to deliver the food stock in the underprivileged
areas.

PLACE:
We will be operating through four means of communication which are as follows:
1. A website which is www.zaroorat.org.pk
2. An app by the name of “Zaroorat” available on Google play and App store
3. A Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Zaroorat-110730140709030/
4. Our headquarters of operation based in Pakistan is located on 88-S, Davis road, Lahore

PROMOTION:
We will be making use of an effective, massive social media campaign to promote our
initiatives
and spread awareness amongst the population. Furthermore, we will also be looking for
volunteers through an online application and registration process in order to widen our
network across Pakistan. Moreover, we have contacted various newspapers such as DAWN
and
THE NEWS, in order to advertise our initiative and make it well known across the nation.
Additionally, we have also contacted Radio Pakistan to broadcast our advertisements and
further promote our initiative.

SWOT ANALYSIS
S Strengths
W Weaknesses
O Opportunities
T Threats

Strengths:
a) The people we will hire as riders, will be responsible for distributing the food stocks in their
respective underprivileged areas, therefore, they will have a better and more thorough
understanding of their communities; the loopholes of their areas as well as to which
household
deserves the food the most. This will greatly improve and supplement our operational
efficiency.

b) The idea of this initiative is very unique in nature and is very sustainable primarily due to
the
fact that we have expert environmentalists and qualified nutritionists on board who are
experienced and have carried out such activities numerous times in the past.
c) Due to massive social media campaigning, as well as advertisements through
newspapers and
Radio broadcasts, we will be able to reach a greater target audience and contact donors
across
the globe and consequently, obtain a higher degree of funds for the executions of the food
distributions.

Weaknesses:
a) This mechanism of food distribution may not be very reliable as the amount of food
collected
every day will vary greatly as will the amount of people we cater to daily.
b) Due to rising petrol costs, the cost of production will increase and may affect our business
negatively
c) Managerial tasks may become challenging once our initiative expands across the nation.

Opportunities:
a) As a new business initiative, we will be looking forward to collaborations with renowned
organizations and increase our outreach
b) We will have the opportunity for maximizing our work during this COVID-19 pandemic as it
represents the period during which people are most affected, we will be able to market our
work effectively and meaningfully during this phase
c) By establishing a solid, volunteer network, we will be able to expand our network all
across
Pakistan.

THREATS:
a) It is likely that our rider staff resigns once the pandemic settles
b) There is a possibility that our initiative is copied
c) Loyalty from our employees can be doubted when our organization is under difficult times

THANK YOU!
