X Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Before engaging in a content review, the students will do a think-pair-share about the facts they remember
about George Washington. The students will engage in a content review as a class before the SRT activity. To
introduce the activity I will have the students play a game of Snowball. They will write questions about
George Washington and get into groups and answer the questions they received. After answering the
questions with the group they will read their questions aloud and answer them with the class.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

X Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) X To illuminate common
misconceptions X Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and mastery
for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge X Test preparation

☐ Survey/Poll X Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

The students will start the assessment on the software socrative. They will see if they will get feedback
immediately. The teacher will walk around as the students are doing the assessment. As the assessment is
going on the teacher will start looking at the data that is being received. The activity will only last 10 minutes
and no longer than 15 minutes.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

X Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select True/False ☐ Yes/No

● Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the SRT, as a class we will go over the correct answers and look at the data. We will discuss the
information that was missed during the assessment. As an extension of this activity, the students can look up
other Presidents and compare how they help shape the United States. This can be used as a review before the
summative assessment.

How will the data be used?

The data collected from this activity will be used to plan further instruction. The focus will be more on the
questions that were a majority incorrect. Socrative provides individual feedback, so I can see what the
students have answered correctly or not. This also can be used as a differentiated instruction. I can also
provide individualized instruction based on the data. This also can be used as a post-assessment and I can see
if the students grasp the concept or not.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

Socrative is a new tool for me. I would be using this for the first time along with my students to see how
effective this is in the classroom. This tool can be used as a pre-assessment, formative, or summative
assessment. This will help me as the teacher to plan further instruction. For the students, they will be able to
receive immediate feedback on the questions.

Reflective Practice:

This tool is a great way for the teacher to get the data easily. The students can also get feedback on the
questions and the final score immediately. There can also be true/false and short answer questions for the
students to answer. The students can also play a game called Space Race. They will be taking a quiz, while
doing an assessment at the same time. This is a great software to use to keep the students engaged. To
further extend this lesson, the students can create their own questions to prepare for the test. After the
students come up with their own questions, then the teacher can make a quiz with the student generated
questions.
