4.3 A rectilinear pen recorder of a diamond turned surface is shown in Figure.


The sampling length (L) used was 0.8 mm and V/H magnification ratio was
5000/100.
Calculate the roughness parameter Ra if the area (in square millimeters)
above and below the mean line are follows:

4.4 A series of waviness takes the form of equilateral triangles of length of side
40 mm. Taking five waves as representing a sample length, determine the
Ra value when the vertical magnification ratio X5000.
Show that the Rz value of the waveform lies between four and seven times
the Ra value.
