The Physical environment of
Miriam College is a sanctuary
for young children, young
women and women who
recognize and respect the
equal attributes and
capabilities of human beings
that is not limited by gender
stereotypes and biases.
The Miriam College Daycare & Breastfeeding Center is the
first of it's kind in the country. Located inside the grounds of
the Miriam College, built for MC employees.
Integrated Lifestyle and Wellness (ILAW) Center
Innovation Center
The Miriam College Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation
Center (MC-HSSIC) is the Philippines’ first
integrated makerspace.
A makerspace is a place of innovation where a
community of learners can gather to tinker,
discover, create, collaborate and solutions to
various problems utilizing the tools provided in
its different work stations or laboratories.
The MC-HSSIC complements the school’s
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering,
Arts and Math) program implemented as early
as 2010 under the leadership of its president,
Dr. Rosario O. Lapus.
Through the center, the school will be able to
immerse students further in the STEAM elds.
Ultimately, it moves the school from STEAM to
DREAM (Design, Robotics, Engineering and
Entrepreneurship, Arts and Mathematics).

Librarian in Action
Activity-based lessons allow pre-schoolers to:
•Use simple scientific skills of exploration, observation and
experimentation
•Discover the wise use of technology
•Develop their creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking
skills
•Develop skills in analyzing, reasoning and communicating
using different media
Ensures a seamless flow of the curriculum across all
units. Its goal is to initiate innovative, relevant and
student-centered programs to enhance the basic
education system. Constant curriculum review,
benchmarking with schools abroad, faculty development
and the implementation of enrichment, enhancement and
leadership programs ensure that high standards are
maintained at all levels.
Miriam College has partnered with ACER Philippines, Inc. and Creative
Technologies, Inc. for the E-Learning Tool project that is currently being
implemented in the High School.

Psychology of Miriam
College sent a delegation to
the Stanford Undergraduate
Psychology Conference
(SUPC) in Stanford
University, Palo Alto,
California.
The Department of International Studies, marks a milestone as it
celebrates 20 years of excellent participation in the Model United of
the Far West (MUNFW), an international simulation conference where
students learn how Member States of the United Nations work
together in finding solutions to the world’s most pressing problems.
MUNFW is held annually in April at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San
Francisco, California, USA. Since 1995, the Department has trained
about 300 IS students, representing various countries in the MUNFW
in the past two decades. It has been consistently recognized for its
outstanding achievement in diplomacy in the MUN.

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA)
conducted a Curriculum Review Workshop for the Higher Education
Unit last April 23 to 25 with the theme “Upbeat, Creative,
Innovative”. The objective of the workshop was to review the
curricular offerings of the colleges/departments based on various
inputs in order to come up with a strengthened, enriched, upbeat,
creative and innovative curriculum/program relevant to the
demands of the current state of Philippine Education and the global
academic world.

issues to inform and
educate the Miriam
Community
Department of Communication faculty Lynda Catindig-Garcia, upon the
invitation of the Korean Women's Development Institute (KWDI),
presented a research on “Integrating Women and Gender Issues in the
Curricula of Higher Education of Miriam College at the 2nd Korean-
ASEAN International Conference on Gender and Development. The
event carried the theme "Translating Women's Experience into
Classroom Teaching in ASEAN Countries“ held in Seoul, Korea
