OUR VISION

THE PROBLEM
To remain competitive in the global marketplace, Jobs at risk due to digital and
Australian businesses need to ensure they're technological disruption
creating the high value products and services of
the future. And, we need to ensure that Australia
has a reputation as an innovation nation. This
starts with our students
Innovation and STEAM based education is
Key to this challenge will be preparing a workforce lacking and lacklustre
fit for the future. We need to equip our children
with 21st century skills. They need to think smart
and creatively, solve problems, persist and take
risks, have strong digital skills and know how to
collaborate effectively
Currently little opportunity to prosper in the
global knowledge and digital economy

THE SOLUTION
At TinkerTank we encourage students to build their
ideas with current technology and materials. Our
approach is to inspire and empower students to
collaborate, construct and create. Our mentors are
facilitators for the students, and also encourage them
to seek out resources to learn on their own, and to
mentor each other. Our philosophy is to honour
students’ creativity and trust their abilities. Students
gain confidence in their abilities become capable of
learning and doing anything!
4
WHAT IS STEAM
TinkerTank is a business based in the technology driven world.
Whilst the rest of the business world aggressively pursues
automation and cost-saving measures – we need to be preparing
the next generation to be more creative, independent thinkers with
an appreciation and understanding of STEAM:
Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics.
5
HOW IT WORKS
Teaching STEAM with creativity is our secret sauce
How?
Push communities together through tinkering and
exploration. Engage in powerful ways off line. Finding
each student's unique passion through their exploration
and curiosity at TinkerTank truly develops critical
thinking, problem-solving, as well as communication and
perseverance skills. Try, try again!

We believe in the power of collaboration, creation and construction to engage and learn effectively
The TinkerTank programs outside of school can help children see that S.T.E.A.M is more than a class or subject they have to finish.
By engaging in activities that show the real-life implication of STEAM, they can pull together ideas presented in school and show
how they benefit our society, and even our world as a whole!
Children will be able to see that what they are learning now is pertinent to both their future, and the future of the whole world.
By having a ‘big picture’ view, this will help create an interest in areas where concepts do not seem to carry real-world application.
At TinkerTank we encourage students to build their ideas with current technology and materials. Our approach is to inspire and
empower students to collaborate, construct and create. Our mentors are facilitators for the students, and also encourage them to
seek out resources to learn on their own, and to mentor each other. Our philosophy to honour8 students’ creativity and trust their
abilities. Students gain confidence in their abilities become capable of learning and doing anything!

THE FOUNDER
INSIGHTS FROM JULIJA LEARIE
TinkerTank comes from creativity. With over 20 years visual effects experience behind me, I just
couldn’t leave the Arts behind. I was inspired by 15 years working in VFX, in an environment
creative and full of technology. I couldn't help but imagine a workspace for students to thrive in.
A safe tinkering space. Arts is Creativity. Creativity is innovation. Innovation is our future.
Makers solve problems! They are creatives, the rebels of this world seeing innovation through
opportunity where others see none. Introducing the Arts, or creativity to STEM is close to my
heart, without this, there is no innovation. The Arts are finally being recognised as a critical
addition to future-proofing students, no matter their age.
Being a woman in the tech industry, has been challenging – so, I want to help be the change. I
want everyone to embrace technology no matter what their interests, so that they will thrive in
their chosen industry. I am empowering students to have a growth mindset to be leaders and
inventors.

FINANCIAL CONTROL
TinkerTank has engaged FBZ Accounting under a CFO service to help control the business finance function and build
out operational finance capability on how the business can improve cost structures, revenue drivers, profitability margins,
speed up working capital cycles and develop short and long range cash flow forecasting for a close watch on the future. These
services and visibility offered by FBZ into TinkerTank will be critical in supporting the growth strategy to accelerate the
business model in the Australian and US markets as they look to amplify their studio model and scale up with investors capital
behind them.
FBZ brings its depth of experience in working with closely held businesses across the Sydney and Illawarra regions. One of its
portfolio companies is an established fast growing childcare business with 14 plus locations and growing, so they have
intimate knowledge of the sector, its challenges and where to leverage opportunities to optimise profits and returns for
shareholders.

WHY INVEST?
• At TinkerTank we are very proud of what we have been able to achieve within a short period of time
• It is a source of great encouragement (and relief!!) that the personal capital and significant time we invested
into the business across 2016 and 2017 as we were starting out looks to be money and time well spent
• There is clearly a lot more for us to do but we are now confident of being able to bring capital into our
business as we expand – albeit very carefully
• Our revenue in FY19 was almost 4.5x that of FY17 (and we were profitable)
• We have a solid handle on what the economics of each studio look like – we made our Manly studio
profitable even with a rent level that we knew was too high (we are in the process of fixing this!!)
• Expanded tech delivery to drive scale is an embedded part of our strategy
26
KEY INVESTMENT THEMES
• Large addressable market for specialist education
• Genuine intellectual property and point of difference
PROVEN MODEL • Immediate customer acquisition impact
• Multiple sources of revenue established
• Confidence in ‘scalability’ via the establishment of a profitable 2nd studio
27
KEY INVESTMENT THEMES
• To remain competitive and innovative - we have a strategic technology plan in place to
address B2B and B2C customers that do not necessarily have access to our studios
TECH STRATEGY
• TinkerTank’s proprietary Hardware: TÄNK robot and it’s AR/VR experience
• In Classroom, smart board programming, activities and engaging content for schools
• Upgrades and improvements to the on Lin App for content, social and more
• As we are cash flow positive the capital we bring in now is solely for growth
• We do not expect to need further capital until FY21
• The environment is dynamic and corporate activity in the education space is genuine –
PATH TO EXIT several vehicles are already listed on the ASX
• We will continue to focus on our own growth path but are mindful that our unique
capability is likely to be attractive to bigger players in the speciality and technology
education sectors
