Hello, my name is Michelle. I am from England. I live in Liverpool. I am nine years old. I live in a
house. I live with my father, my mother and brother. My dad is forty years old. His name is Steve. He
has a beard. My mom is thirty six years old. Her name is Laure. She has glasses. My brother is three
years old. His name is Peter. He has blue eyes. My family is fantastic. Bye!

What is READING?
 It is the process of looking at a series of written symbols and getting meaning from them.
 When we read, we use our eyes to receive written symbols (letters, punctuations marks and spaces)

Why is Reading so important?


 Studies show that reading for pleasure makes a big difference to children’s educational performance.
 Children who read for enjoyment everyday not only perform better in reading tests than those who do not, but
also develop a broader vocabulary.
 It increases general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.

What is WRITING?
 It is a medium of human communication that involves the representation of a language with symbols.

Why is Writing important?

It is used in many areas of our lives.

 Writing is an essential job skill.


 Writing equips us with communication and thinking skills.
 Writing expresses who we are as people.
 Writing preserves our ideas and memories.
 Writing allows us to entertain others.

What are SKILLS?

 They are the abilities to perform actions with determined results within a given amount of time, energy, or
both.
 Skills are a term that encompasses the knowledge, competencies, and abilities to perform operational tasks.
 Skills are developed through life and work experience and they can also be learned through study.

 Critical thinking
 Organization
 Reading and Writing
 Time management

Why are they very important?

 It is very important for problem solving.


 It builds confidence.
 It develops a greater sense of self-awareness/appreciation for others.
