Belgians love France. The Belgians like the French.

The results of the survey conducted by the institute

"Dedicated Research" for the country and sympathy for its people are certain, but with some nuances.
What does the France they love look like? What are the French people like? Responses and commetaires

For Belgians, France is above all the country of holidays (33%), tourist destinations (24%) and beautiful
landscapes (22%). But it is also that of good wine (29%) and gastronomy (23%). Only 1% of those
questioned associate France with human rights or literature. For the majority of Belgians, France is first
and foremost a gigantic and excellent restaurant, with a magnificent cellar, set in a dream setting.
Sunny, of course!

The Belgians prefer France (86%) to the French (81%), but our reputation is not too bad: only 18% have
"somewhat or very negative" feelings for their neighbors. We notice that two thirds of the people
questioned consider France as a country to which they feel close: a little more than half of Belgians
(51%) would like to live there.

What do they like about us? Our main qualities: we are friendly and courteous (42%), we know how to
express ourselves (18%). For one in ten Belgians, we are open-minded; 9% think we are cultured, cook
well, and are good people. Qualities of which we are proud! To our ambition are those who obtain the
lowest percentage of responses (1%). For faults, it is the consensus: we are "chauvinist and arrogant" for
more than two Belgians. As far as our humor is concerned, they do not seem traumatized by our famous
Belgian jokes where we make fun of them: 3% cite humor as one of our qualities, against 2% who
consider it a defect.

Pentru belgieni, Franța este mai presus de toate țara sărbătorilor (33%), destinațiile turistice (24%) și
peisajele frumoase (22%). Dar este și cea a vinului bun (29%) și a gastronomiei (23%). Doar 1% dintre cei
chestionați asociază Franța cu drepturile omului sau cu literatura. Pentru majoritatea belgienilor, Franța
este în primul rând un restaurant gigantic și excelent, cu o pivniță magnifică, amplasat într-un cadru de
vis. Soare, desigur!

Belgienii preferă Franța (86%) decât francezii (81%), dar reputația noastră nu este prea rea: doar 18% au
sentimente „oarecum sau foarte negative” pentru vecinii lor. Observăm că două treimi dintre
persoanele chestionate consideră Franța ca o țară de care se simt aproape: puțin mai mult de jumătate
dintre belgieni (51%) ar dori să locuiască acolo.

Ce le place la noi? Principalele noastre calități: suntem prietenoși și amabili (42%), știm să ne exprimăm
(18%). Pentru unul din zece belgieni, suntem cu mintea deschisă; 9% cred că suntem culti, gătim bine și
suntem oameni buni. Calități de care suntem mândri! Pentru ambiția noastră sunt cei care obțin cel mai
mic procent de răspunsuri (1%). Pentru defecte, este consensul: suntem „șovini și aroganți” pentru mai
mult de doi belgieni. În ceea ce privește umorul nostru, ele nu par traumatizate de faimoasele noastre
glume belgiene unde ne batem joc de ele: 3% citează umorul ca una dintre calitățile noastre, împotriva a
2% care îl consideră un defect.
