 Search Tools are specialized programs that assist you in locating information on the Web
and the Internet. Include:
o Search Services operate websites and look for new information, update websites.
o Specialized Search Engines focus on subject specific websites.
o Search Engines assist in locating specific information.
 How to evaluate the content of a website?

To evaluate the content of a web site, you must be sure to check the authority, accuracy,
objectivity, and currency. (Not everything on the Internet is accurate)

6. Describe electronic commerce, including business-to-consumer, consumer-to-


consumer, and business-to-business e-commerce, and security.

 Electronic commerce is buying and selling of goods over the Internet.


o Business-to-consumer (B2C) is the fastest growing type of e-commerce. It is the
sale of product or service to the general public. There are 3 most widely used B2C
applications: Online banking, Financial trading, Shopping.
o Consumer-to-consumer (C2C) is individuals selling to individuals and Web
auctions: Buyers and sellers seldom meet, Bids are submitted electronically,
Person-to-person auction sites
o Business-to-business e-commerce (B2B) is sale of a product or service from one
business to another, primarily a manufacturer supplier relationship.
o Security is payment methods must be fast, reliable, secure and provide a
convenient way to submit buyer’s information. There are 2 options: Credit card,
Digital cash.

7. Discuss the Internet of Things. Describe how Fitbit and Apple’s Health App are
examples of how an IoT device can interact with a Web 3.0 application.

 The Internet of Things (IoT) continues development of the Internet and allows objects
embedded with electronic devices to send and receive data such as Smartphones,
Wearable devices
 Fitbit Tracker and Apple Health automatically collect user activity data such as steps,
calories burned from the photosensitive device, and GPS positioning or from other
devices. The collected data is uploaded wirelessly to a website where the wearer can view
their data and track their progress towards personal goals. Website 3.0 provides a
motivational interface where users can share their progress, compare themselves with
similar people and work towards virtual goals with friends, family and colleagues their.
At the website, users can also manually log in their nutrition, weight and other health
information to get an overview of their health.

8. What is cloud computing? Describe the three basic components of cloud computing.

 Cloud computing shifts computing activities from users’ computers to computers on the
Internet and frees end-users from owning, maintaining, and storing software programs
and data There are 3 basic components:
o Clients are end-users who want access to data, programs, and storage anywhere
and anytime a connection to the Internet is available.
o Service providers are organizations that are willing to provide access to software
and storage.
