 Prepared Tickets for Fractions
Theory
The Montessori introduction to fractions begins after the
child has had adequate experience with the concept of
whole numbers. After the child is introduced to the
physical concept of fractions, the teacher introduces the
notation of fractions. These prepared tickets are used with
the metal inset fraction pieces to connect notation to
quantity.

Materials Needed
1 page white 8.5” x 11” cardstock, 10 coin envelopes,
laminator

Assembly
• Print page 3 onto cardstock.
• Cut out tickets, laminate, and cut, leaving laminate
edge.
• Label coin envelopes by category: whole, halves, thirds,
etc. through ninths (see cover photo).
• Organize tickets into envelopes by category.
