SUMMARY
Elastopor LF 4150 is a two-component polyurethane system formulated specifically for concrete leveling
and soil stabilization applications. Elastopor LF 4150 is installed via incremental injections using high
pressure polyurethane dispensing equipment. At the point of injection, the two liquid parts (resin and
isocyanate) mix and flow into the void space, then expand during reaction to form a rigid polyurethane
foam. As the foam expands, it encounters resistance from soil and slab weight which dictates the
ultimate in place density.
The below data reports compression strength and modulus of elasticity data for Elastopor LF 4150 over a
wide density range (90 – 350 kg/m3). Results of this testing indicate outstanding physical performance
across the entire range of densities. This highlights the versatility of Elastopor LF 4150 for use in wide
array of applications including surface leveling (sidewalks, highways, foundations) and deep injection
stabilization to name a few.
METHODS
Blocks of Elastopor LF 4150 foam were molded to a target density. Blocks were prepared by hand mixing
the resin and isocyanate components and pouring into a 12” x 12” x 4” mold (Figure 1). The blocks were
stored for at least 72 hours in a climate controlled environment (24 °C, 50% relative humidity) prior to
cutting and testing.

RESULTS
Vertical Compression
Vertical compression was measured as a function of strain for various sample
densities (Figure 3).
Compressive Strength
The maximum compression strength was determined by measuring the
compression strength at 10% strain (Figure 4 ).

RESULTS
Elastic Modulus
The modulus of elasticity at yield was determined as shown in Figure 5
below. The moduli range from around 10 MPa at low density to 160 MPa at
the highest packed densities. This range is comparable to those of various
soil types as shown below in Table 1.
