METHODOLOGY
This chapter discusses the methods that were used in the conduct of this study.
Generally, these include the tools, techniques and processes that the researchers utilized for
effective undertaking. Specifically, it comprises the research design, the duration and locale
of the study, the population and informants of the study, the materials that were used to
gather the pertinent data needed and the procedures that were performed to complete the
data. Furthermore, this chapter reveals how the researchers came up to the necessary data
for this study and how these data were analyzed, interpreted and presented in the most
convenient and proper way as possible.
Research Design
This study used the phenomenology research design, also known as lived
experience. Phenomenology is an approach to qualitative research that focuses on the
commonality of a lived experience within a particular group. According to Creswell (2013),
the fundamental goal of the approach is to arrive at a description of the nature of the
particular phenomenon. Furthermore, the design fit this study because the interviews are
conducted with a group of individuals who have first-hand knowledge of an event, situation
or experience. The ideal is that the phenomenologists want to know what the experience
was like to live it, not just the person's reaction to the experience (Munhall, 2007)
The aforementioned design was applied to this undertaking because the researchers
believe that it is the most logical choice in collecting information or data through the context
of individual stories of the participants. Since the researchers of this study are in the same
field of specialization (STEM) as the participants, the phenomenology design enabled them
to directly and personally delve into the various perspectives of the informants that provided
answer to the central phenomenon this research has. Moreover, such design contributed to
a convenient, friendly and conversational atmosphere during the data gathering process,
hence, rich data collection was ensured for the researchers to relate and reflect to.

this, the researchers will conduct the data collection phase in the aforesaid school due to its
convenience for them to start and develop their study, since it is the nearest school in their
range and also a well-known pioneer school. Essentially speaking, the researchers believe
that STEM students of SEPNAS can meet the criteria in conducting this research and be the
The informants were identified as students who experience the new set of education,
particularly the modular learning. The population of the study will be comprised of STEM
students. Thus, the researchers intentionally chose their informants to make sure that they are

Data Analysis
Thematic analysis is simple to use, making it ideal for beginner researchers who are
unfamiliar of more sophisticated types of qualitative analysis. It allows for the researcher's
specific ideas, whereas thematic analysis can be applied to any theory the researcher chooses.
Through this flexibility, thematic analysis allows for rich, detailed and complex description
of your data.
