Total Wellness May Be Within Reach: Overcoming Challenges Associated

with Achieving Physical, Environmental, Economic and Personal Wellness
Step-by-Step Lead to Overall Well-Being

SAN MARCOS, Ca., August 31, 2013 — We have all heard the adage: “We are what we eat.”
Or are we?

Dr. Gary Shima, MD says, “It’s not just what we eat, but what we breathe in and soak up, and
what we don’t eat that also matter to our physical wellness and well-being which he believes are
part of total wellness.”

We live in a fast paced toxic environment filled with super-sized fast food, empty calories, and
missing nutrients. Amidst it all, Americans consume vitamin and mineral supplements to the
tune of $xx Billion per year, most of which crystallize in our stomachs and are never absorbed,
but passed in urine.

The retail economy is full of bright and shiny shelves with all types of highly refined products in
colorful wrappers competing for space in mega-stores. No longer satisfied with buying natural
wholesome products in burlap bags, Americans embraced run-away development of highly
refined grocery products. So what to do?

According to Dr. Shima, “Americans need to be slowing down and taking an objective look at
the health value of what they consume, and what they spend. Total wellness includes personal
wellness, which means balance, and economic wellness, which means a balanced budget –in a
nutshell - spend less and save more.”

We spend $___ on diet plans and supplements which we excrete without absorbing, and eat fast
food that has been robbed of the nutrients we badly need.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the facts are alarming. Obesity rates are
soaring in the U.S. Obesity is common, serious and costly:
FACT: During the past 20 years, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the
United States and rates remain high. More than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) and
approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are
obese
FACT: Obesity-related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and
certain types of cancer, some of the leading causes of preventable death.
FACT: The estimated annual medical cost of obesity in the U.S. was $147 billion in
2008 U.S. dollars; the medical costs for people who are obese were $1,429 higher than
those of normal weight.

According to Shima and the 360WellnessLab, the fallout from the change in food available and
the choices we make impact physical wellness, a part of total wellness. Activity level and lack of
exercise are other factors that complicate physical wellness. In addition, we live in a hectic
society, filled with pollutants and use harsh chemicals to clean our homes and bodies. Financial
pressures abound, particularly in recent years. The value of balance, happiness and peace of
mind in personal and family life seems to be forgotten. For many, these factors lead to stresses
that cause collective health degradation.

The total wellness program includes physical, environmental, economic and personal wellness
elements. Program updates are posted daily on 360WellnessLab
(http://www.360WellnessLab.com). While other wellness definitions may include additional
elements, 360WellnessLab focuses on these four primary areas. The idea is to address how each
of these elements factor alone and integrate in the effort to accomplishing total wellness. Other
total wellness news for readers and visitors is available for quick and easy reference 24/7.

“The website provides more than just wellness news; it provides a regular training schedule and
offers variety of helpful web-based tools including live webinar wellness overviews,” stated
website spokesperson Mark Anderson.
