Learning Exercise 1
1. Enumerate and define the three approaches to the study of ethics.
a. Meta- ethics
-deals with the nature of moral judgment. It looks at the origins and
meaning of ethical principle.
b. Normative- ethics
-is concerned with the content of moral judgments and the criteria for what
is right or wrong.
c. Applied- ethics
-looks at controversial topics like war, animal rights and capital
punishment.
2. Are you theistic? Why? / Why not? (3 to 4 sentences only pls)

1. Distinguish whether the following are human acts or acts of man:
a) Reading Lesson 2 of Ethics module 1 -human acts
b) Calling a friend -acts of man
c) Going to pee -acts of man
d) Doing household chores -acts of man
e) Inhaling smoke from burning firewood -acts of man
2. Do you agree that the absolutely ultimate end is happiness? Defend your
answer. (3 to 4 sentences only pls)
Learning Exercise 3
1. Identify the components of moral standards.
:moral sensitivity, moral judgment, moral motivation, moral character
Moral Character
- is an analysis of an individual's steady moral qualities.
Moral Judgment
- refer to judgments that have moral content; they are used to
evaluate situations, courses of action, persons, behavior, etc.
Moral Motivation
- occurs when a moral judgment combines with a desire, and the
content of the judgment is related to the content of the desire so as to
rationalize the action.
Moral Sensitivity
- is the ability to identify the existing moral problem and understand the
moral consequences of the decisions made on the patient’s part.
2. Give the distinctions of a moral precept from an ethical code.
- A moral percept is an idea or viewpoint motivated by a desire to do good.
- An ethical code is a set of principles that specify what acts are permissible
or what behavior is acceptable.
3. Identify one among your community’s ‘mores’, describe the more and explain
its significance as a prevailing more in your community (4 sentences only pls).
-Here in our barangay, our barangay captain scheduled a disposing of garbage to
be pick up by the trash truck to make our barangay clean and free from garbage
odors. This made a big impact in our community and all of us are following the
said rules to dispose our garbages every saturday.
Learning Exercise 4
1. In a matrix(table) format, compare and contrast moral from non-moral
standards.
MORAL NON-MORAL
- behavior doing deeds to benefit the - behavior not related to moral constraints
others - rules that are unrelated to moral or
- rules people have about the kinds of ethical considerations
actions they believe are morally right and
wrong

2. If somebody very dear to you is suffering from cancer and is in agonizing pain,
and if you are the sole authority to give consent, will you allow this person to
undergo euthanasia upon the patient’s request? What ethical action will you
take if you are in this kind of moral dilemma?
- If I were to decide I will not allow him/her to undergo euthanasia because I
believe that if now is your time to die you will die and if it isn’t it isn’t.
We are not the one who governs our life. The ethical action I will take if I am in
this kind of moral dilemma is moral standard.
MODULE 1 : SUMMATIVE EXERCISE
Movie Review : to be sent in our fb GC
Watch the movie ‘Mulan’ (Mulan.2020.720pWEBRip.x264AAC), then:
a) make an analytic discussion regarding the moral and non-moral standards of
the ancient Chinese in the movie, (4-5 sentences only pls) and
-the moral standards in the movie are loyalty to the country and filial duty
to the family, while the non moral standards is it’s cultural insensitivity.
b) explain the moral dilemma that Mulan went through and how she handled the
same moral dilemma (4-5 sentences only pls).
-Mulan crossed an ethical path is when she joins the army in training camp. This
marks the first stage in which Mulan crosses the normative ethical theory. The
morality of an action based on whether the action itself is right or wrong
under a series of rules, instead of being based on the
consequences of sad action.
