Week 3, Day 2 Zoom check-in (9/22, 8:00-8:50AM Beijing time)

1. Speed round – greetings! Preferred first name only + hello in any language of your
choice (spoken, signed, etc.); group echoes you (8:00-8:05)

2. Overview of course (8:05-8:25)


a. Keep focused on the Course Themes/Objectives in the syllabus; how it is unique:
The course offers an introduction to academic writing grounded in the
immediate needs and challenges of students’ academic writing in conjunction
with other courses in their course of study.

c. Discussion of Final Portfolio

The Portfolio should be ONE WORD DOCUMENT with 3 parts (INSERT PAGE
BREAK BETWEEN EACH PART):

1. Course Goal (250-500 words) [Great work]

2. Assignment you are working on in another current course (or, if second


year, your thesis proposal) marked with at least 10 reflective
comments, totaling at least 200 words. A reflective comment is a
reflection on your own development as a writer as a result of this
course. Use the Microsoft Word Comment button (In Microsoft Word
go to Review tab, then New Comment button).

3. Final Reflection on Reflective Portfolio experience, connect to what you


have learned in overall Academic Writing course (500 words)

3. Dialogue with Critical Writers – TAs (3/4 minutes each) (you’ll be posting your
responses to this after the call) (8:25-8:35)
