wa ‘alā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi ajma‘īn,

Nawaytu’t-ta‘alluma wa’t-ta‘līm, wa’t-tadhakkura wa’t-tadhkīr, wa’n-naf‘a wa’l-intifā‘ wa’l-

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds. And may God bestow mercy and peace upon
our master Muḥammad, and upon his house and all of his companions.
I hereby intend to learn and to teach; to be reminded and to remind; to benefit and
to derive benefit; to be useful and to find use; and to encourage holding fast to the Book
of God and the way of His messenger - may the prayers and peace of God be upon
him; and to call unto guidance and to guide unto good, for the sake of God, His
pleasure, His proximity and His reward, glorified and exalted be He.

Allāhumma innī a‘ūdhu bika min ‘ilmin lā yanfa‘ wa qalbin lā yakhsha‘ wa ‘amalin lā

O God, I take refuge in You from knowledge that is of no benefit, from a heart that is
bere of fear, from an act that is not raised and from a prayer that is not heard.

We have awoken upon the primordial disposition of Islam, the word of sincerity, the
religion of our prophet Muḥammad - may the prayers and peace of God be upon him -
and upon the faith of our father Abraham, an upright monotheist, a Muslim and not
one of the polytheists.

‘ibādika’ṣ-ṣālihīn. Wa’j‘alnī ṣabūran shakūran, wa’j‘alnī adhkuruka dhikran kathīran, wa
usabbiḥuka bukratan wa aṣīlā.

I bear witness that there is no deity but God, alone, without partner, and I bear witness
that Muḥammad is His servant and messenger. Glory unto You and in Your praise, O
God, I bear witness there is no deity but You. I have erred and wronged myself, I seek
Your forgiveness and I repent unto You. Forgive me and turn towards me, for indeed
You are the O-turning, the Merciful.
O God, make me from the o-repenting; make me from those who take to the
purification of self; make me from Your righteous servants and make me forever patient
and grateful. (O God), allow me to make o-rememberance of You and to glorify You,
by the morning and the evening.

And I ask You from the good that Your slave and prophet Muḥammad asked for - may

O God, as Your night approaches and Your day departs; upon Your prayer being made
present and upon the voice of he who calls on Your behalf; I ask that You grant
Muḥammad - may God bestow mercy and peace upon him - the highest paradisal

In Your name do I lay myself down and in Your name do I arise, so forgive me for my
sins. O God, save me from Your chastisement on the Day You resurrect Your servants. O
God, I live and die in Your name. I take refuge in You from the evil of the wicked and
from the evil of every crawling creature; You indeed hold their forelock in Your grasp,
verily my Lord is upon a straight path.
You are the First, there is nothing before You and You are the Last, there is
nothing beyond You. You are the Manifest, there is nothing above You and You are the
Hidden, there is nothing beneath You; settle my debts and release me from poverty.
O God, You created my soul and You lay it to rest. Its life and death belongs to You
alone. If You ordain death for it, then forgive it and if You revive it, then protect it in the
same way that You protect Your righteous servants. O God, I ask of You pardon and
well-being.
O God, awaken me at the hour most beloved to You and use me in works that are most
beloved to You, so that You can draw me unto You, endeared and render me far remote
from Your wrath. I ask of You, so grant me; I seek Your forgiveness, so forgive me and I
pray unto You, so answer my prayers.

God is supremely great. Praise be to God in abundance and glorified be God, by the
morning and evening.
I direct my being towards the One Who created the skies and the earth, as a pure
monotheist, a Muslim and I am not from those who associate partners with God. Verily,
my prayer and my worship, my life and my death are for God, the Lord of the worlds.
He has no associate. at is what I have been commanded and I am from those who
surrender (unto Him).
