ESSAY: If you are going to have a food business in the future, what type of foodservice operation
would you like to practice and why?

Although little is known about the early vendors and innkeepers who offered meals in
exchange for money, food service management has a long history; and as the public's interests
grew increasingly diverse, so did the food and beverage industry's operation and products.
Efficiency, economies of scale, and technologies that promote productivity while also improving
food safety characterizes modern food service management.

The modern foodservice industry has amassed a foundation of knowledge regarding the
best practices that can help a food service company succeed. Inline with this, if I were to become
a foodservice entrepreneur in the future, I probably would invest in a conventional service system,
specifically a restaurant since its perceived impact on the market is timeless.

Natural disasters, political upheaval, and, most recently, a worldwide pandemic have all
impacted the restaurant sector. In a business standpoint, the restaurant industry is at a great
advantage due to its faster innovation and flexibility that showcased amazing resiliency, especially
in the last 18 months. When it comes to profitability and the business’ success, the ability to
provide consumers excellent and enjoyable food at a price point that makes sense for the
ingredients and effort that goes into each dish is crucial. Aside from the cuisine, the meal service
experience supplied to customers should include courtesy, attention to detail, and a dining
experience that is justified with its value.

Despite the considerable strengths presented, weaknesses are still existing, such as poor
customer traffic which is worsened by the pandemic and the fact that the foodservice sector is
oversaturated which establishes prominent competition makes it harder for businesses to peak and,
changes in customer expectations have only added to this pain point for the industry.

Taking all of this into consideration, it is important to note that when it comes to business,
it's always mind over matter. Starting a business is not something that can be accomplished
overnight. It takes a lot of effort, industry expertise, and a lot of wonderful people to support you
along the road.
