AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical/ Pre-Dental Test) conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary
Education) was an annual medical entrance examination of India which reserved 15% of the total seats
for admission to MBBS/ BDS degree programs in all Medical and Dental colleges of India.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (Undergraduate)
NEET (UG) conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) is an all-India pre-medical entrance examination
of India which reserved 100% of the total seats for admission to MBBS/ BDS/ AYUSH degree programs in
all Government and Private institutions in India, and also for those intending to pursue primary medical
qualification abroad.

2012 NEET was proposed and cancelled.
2013 NEET was held for the first time.
2014-
NEET was not held. AIPMT was held instead.

AIPMT was considered as NEET Phase-I. NEET Phase-II was held, and students who
2016 attempted AIPMT were also allowed to give NEET-II, but on the condition that they will give
up candidature of the previous phase.
2017 NEET replaced AIPMT completely, and it became a single paper exam.
NEET replaced AIIMS (UG) Entrance Examination. In 2020, NEET was held a second time for

COVID affected candidates.
Marking Scheme
NEET Question Paper comprises of a total of 180 Multiple Choice Single Answer Correct Questions. In
2021, due to COVID relaxation, some internal choices were provided.
