Perceived Level of Satisfaction on the Learning Conducive Environment of

the Students in Muntinlupa National High School - Annex during the Covid
19 Pandemic
CHAPTER 1
Background of the Study
The world is experiencing an unprecedented dilemma as a result of Covid19. No one ever
imagined that it would have such a profound impact on the lives of every person on this
globe, whether economically, socially, or mentally. By June 2020, over a third of the world
had been subjected to some of the restrictions, ranging from total 'lockdown' to home
quarantine to social distancing ("Covid-19: One-third of humanity under virus lockdown",
2020). It has had a significant negative influence on all societal systems and activities,
including the educational system. All educational establishments, including schools,
colleges, and universities, are still closed. The world is currently adjusting to the online
education system, keeping in mind the importance of the teaching-learning process, but
it, too, has numerous limitations and issues. How successfully are the educational needs
of children and learners met now that they are no longer in educational facilities and are
limited to their homes?
According to (Study.com,2018) the learning environment encompasses learning
resources and technology, means of teaching, modes of learning, and connections to
societal and global contexts. The term also includes human behavioral and cultural
dimensions, including the vital role of emotion in studying. The learning environment is a
composite of human practices and material systems, much as ecology is the combination
of living things and the physical environment (Balog,2018). Contemporary learners
deserve learning spaces that meet their individual and collective needs. To meet this
challenge, educational leaders must provide physical and cultural environments that are
empowering and engaging (Orlu,2013).
With the new normal learning setup, it is highly encouraged to create a conducive learning
environment at home. Since most students are required to do online distance learning, it
would be easier to attend classes feeling focused and comfortable when they have a
dedicated area to study. In making education a priority in your family, here are back-to-
school tips on how you can create a conducive learning space at home. For the student,
different environments can be beneficial or distracting. The cultural upbringing of a
student has an impact on their ability to acquire required resources as well as their and
students may or may not have active roles in the classroom. Families that care about their
children's education play an equally important part in the learning process as the teacher.
The classroom design, whether traditional or online, is a crucial part of creating a positive
learning environment.
