A. Process Questions:

1. In what sense are cities mediums of globalization?

• "Global cities" have always been and will continue to be both products and
producers of globalization. They have a significant impact on the global economy,
culture, and society, but they are also influenced by it. They're also sites where
opposing forces collide and local responses to globalization become particularly
obvious. Cities bring foreign residents and visitors together for business and other
activities that contribute to globalization. The emergence of global cities has been
linked to two globalization-related trends: first, the expansion of transnational
corporations' (TNCs) engagement in global production patterns, and second, the
decline of mass production following Fordist lines and the rise of flexible
production centered in metropolitan regions.

2. Why is economic power the most crucial determinant of a global city?

• Some cities, such as New York or Beijing, have global significance, whereas others,
despite their size in comparison to their surrounds, are only relevant in their
immediate vicinity. Economic power refers to a country's, a company's, or an
individual's ability to enhance their level of living. It gives them more freedom to
make decisions that benefit them alone, and it limits the power of any outside force
to limit their freedom. Economic strength is mostly determined by purchasing
power.
