A. Process Questions:

1. What is the impact of global flows on the global south?

• The World Bank and other institutions have coined the phrase "Global South" to
describe countries on one side of the underlying global North–South split, with
those in the Global North on the other. The vast majority of these countries are
found in or close to the tropics. The tremendous economic expansion of developing
countries like China, India, Brazil, and South Africa has produced a fundamental
upheaval in the global economy over the last two decades. Inexorably, the
economic center of gravity is shifting toward the emerging South. The astonishing
increase in South-South cooperation, also known as South-South cooperation, must
be understood as part of this bigger tale.

2. Examine the gap between rural and urban areas across the globe. How is that gap
affected by globalization?

• In the economies of the Near East and North Africa, the rural-urban divide remains
the single most well-documented development and welfare inequality (NENA).
Rural areas have poorer economic productivity, higher poverty levels, and worse-
quality infrastructure and services, indicating a divide between rural and urban
areas. The findings show that the urban-rural income disparity has widened since
China's integration into the global economy, but that globalization is not the
primary cause. In reality, the findings show that foreign direct investment has aided
in the reduction of inequality.
