Ethics plays a crucial role to our personal value system wherein it underlies the principle of

morality or the different perception of what is good and bad. It ensures that an individual think

and reason wisely to choose what is right over wrong when facing dilemmas.

Determining what is wrong and right is hard but necessary especially in a very difficult situation.

We have different perspective or point of view and own set of ethics, one thing could look right

to one person and the same thing could look wrong to another person. For instance, when I was

freshmen student in high school. We are about to go to the canteen for snack and instantaneously

we heard a teacher scolding her student with insulting words because they didn’t follow her

instruction and one of them defend their side and ask the teacher how can she talk to them in

insolent way, then the teacher realize that there’s plenty of students watching her and she left the

room. I ask myself, is that the right thing to do? Does anybody get hurt physically or

emotionally? What gone wrong?

Since an infant, I always have been taught good behavior. My family especially my grandparents

is the great influencers of my life. They always told me to show empathy, always put your feet in

the shoes of others. What will you feel if you are in the their situation? They told me that if you

know that you are right, do it and defend yourself. They told me to be proper and respect. Do not

do unto others what you don’t want them to do to you.

I grow up being courteous and deal with others the way I want to be treated. Every time I see

someone bullied by others I will defend them and comfort those people who feel unwanted and

feel disgraceful. I always put myself into them and remember those gloomy days like they

experience. I give them advise because even in a simple word can change a person.

Growing up, I became an inspiration to my siblings, friends and some people. I had become a

model to some children every time I came to their houses. I learned that ethics is not just

knowing what is right and wrong but it is a reflection of who you are from within. It portraits

how you vision what the world must be and how the people act and trait everyone equally. I

believe that if we sink into our mind the essence of ethics, there are less crime, less hatred and

less despair. If we able to determine what is wrong and right, chaos may no longer be

distinguished instead harmony will rise.
