The Nat ional Council for Promot ion of Urdu Language (Urdu: ‫ قومی کونسل برائے فروغ اردو زبان‬‎,
Qaumī Kaunsil barā-yi Farōg̱ẖ-i Urdū Zabān NCPUL) is an aut onomous regulat ory body in t he
Government of India.[1] It is t he main aut horit y of Urdu language and educat ion in India, being one
of t wo aut horit ies responsible for t he regulat ion of Urdu, t he ot her being t he Nat ional Language
Aut horit y of Pakist an.
