THE DIFFERENCES OF SOCIAL SCIENCES LEARNING BY TEACHING USING

ROLE PLAY AND COMMUNICATIVE METHOD AT FOURTH GRADE SD NEGERI

Abstract: This study aims to determine the tendency of IPS learning outcomes of fourth grade
students of SD Negeri in Umbulharjo Yogyakarta, whose learning uses role playing method
descriptively. It is comparative to know the difference of IPS learning result of fourth grade
students of SD Negeri in Umbulharjo sub-district of Yogyakarta among those taught using role
playing method and discussion method. The result of descriptive research shows that the
tendency of IPS learning achievement of fourth grade students of SD Negeri in Umbulharjo sub-
district, Yogyakarta whose learning using role playing method with average value 19,8519 in
normal curve is in medium category with interval between 15,48 to 18 , 39 while the learning
using the discussion method with an average value of 16.8431 in the normal curve is in the
moderate category at intervals between 15.41 to 18.28. There is a very significant difference in
the results of study of IPS grade 4 students of SD Negeri in Umbulharjo Yogyakarta between
learning using role playing method with discussion method.
