About this Product
Use this 12 bar blues lesson to teach your students
how to compose and perform in this style. The 12
bar blues graphic organizers included in this
download give step-by-step instructions to make
composing super easy for your students.

This product contains:


- Blues Organizer – students fill in 4 -beat rhythm
patterns in each bar and perform using the notes of
the 12 bar blues scale
- Blues on the Staff – student take the rhythm
patterns they created and transfer it onto the staff

How to Use:
- Teach the 12 bar blues by rote in whole notes (hold up
flashcards with the Roman Numerals I, IV, and V and
have students play and hold the note
- Model how to use the Blues Organizer as a class. Play
your class composition together
- Split students up into groups of 4/5 and have them
create their own rhythm patterns to play and
perform with their group
- Have students, independently, take their Blues
Organizer and transfer it onto the staff using the
Blues on the Staff worksheet
