MUSIC 10 Assignment 2: Electronic and Chance Music

Name: Johannes Fortunate R. Bagsic

Grade and Section: Gr. 10 St. Michael

1. What is your description of the music you just heard in relation to the following elements of
music?
a. Melody
It is a sequence of individual notes higher, lower, or constant in pitch which we see as
a singular thing. It is literally pitch and rhythm combined.

b. Harmony
It is two or more notes being played or heard at the same time.

c. Rhythm
A pattern of sound and silence in a song. It refers to the succession of notes and rests
in time. I refer to it as a beat.

d. Texture
It describes how layers of different sounds interact within music. Kind of like instant
noodles, one noodle is a single melody like a monophonic texture but take multiple
then its polyphonic.

e. Timbre
It distinguishes different types of sound production, as in it helps to distinguish
different sounds, or instruments at the same time. I interpret it as a coating of paint.

f. Form
It is the overall structure of the musical piece, composition, or performance.

2. Did you understand the music that you just heard? Describe the different kinds of music that
you heard.
Yes I do, normally listening to jazz and dissonant music, I can understand it. What I heard
were unconventionally arranged music, not in a bad way, but also not for every ear to listen
to.
3. Did you appreciate this kind of music? Would you listen to this style of music at home? Why
or why not?
On given occasions I would, since it brings out this world of amazing things, same as other
pieces of music but these get you more immersed rather than wanting to make you sing,
hum, or bust a move.
