00:31 – 00:37 Hey, my name’s Thomas Orlina, I’m from Los Angeles, California. I’m a host, producer, and
recording artist.

01:17 – My name is Thomas Orlina, I’m from Los Angeles, California, and I’m a host and producer for my
Youtube series, Your Time With Thomas. / 01:24 I’m also a recording artist and I just debuted by first
ever pop dance single, Brush It Off. 01:30 /

01:37 – I’ve always wanted to work in this industry I started off in college just kind of learning about
entertainment, and all the ins and outs and, joined the internship, learned a lot from there and kind of got
my way into the entertainment industry. 01:51 /

02:04 – Um I got into the industry because I really wanted to just be in front of the camera, I always
loved entertaining people, I did notice at a very young age that there was not as many Filipino-Americans
on television so I felt like I wanted to be one of the first to, to share my story and be in frotn of the
camera. 02:22 /

02:52 – Growing up there weren’t many Filipino-Americans on TV but nowadays, people like Manny
Pacquiao, and other people on camera like Bruno Mars, as far as being an artist, 03:03 /

04:02 – I was born in Los Angeles, California. My parents are from the Philippines, um, I recently got to
go to the Philippines and just really loved the culture, and appreciated just seeing all of the beautiful
islands and I’m really excited to go back one day. 04:17 /
4

04:31 – I definitely feel like I’m connected with my Filipino culture. 04:34 Growing up my parents always
spoke to me in Tagalog so I’d always pick up certain phrases and different words. Um 04:41 my mom is
Ilocano, so I definitely kind of got a little bit of the dialect from her as well and 00:46 / um just growing
up I was alsways around a lot of very much Filipino like things, the cuisine, just everynight my parents
always cooking Filipino food so. 04:57 / I definitely feel like that will always be a part of me. 04:59 /

05:21 – I feel very connected with my culture, I love being Filipino-American, I grew up in Eagle Rock, the
community is very much Filipino, I love just the language, the beautiful islands I mean 05:33 / you watch
Miss Universe and Miss Philippines is always in the top 5, top 10, won a few years, so I definitely love
being Filipino. 05:42 / The culture itself, just being Asian-American, its just uh, it’s just something that I
really, really enjoy being. 05:49 /

06:19 – Every project that I’ve ever put out I always talk about being Filipino-American, I always love
profiling my family, the culture and things that we do. 06:28 / And just being Filipino-American in front of
the camera and as an entertainer it’s always important for me to kind of incorporate that in all my
projects. 06:37 / In my new project Brush It Off, my new pop-dance music video you’ll see
Filipino-Americans in the music video, you’ll also see my 6 year old niece Analyn in the video so I think it’s
important for the next generation and for all generations really to see that Filipino-Americans are here and
you know we’re in entertainment as well. 06:57 /

07:19 – My parents were actually diagnosed with corona virus, both of them were in the hospital it was a
very tricky time, very scary for everybody in my family really. 07:28 / So, to create content during such a
hard time was pretty difficult but through writing my song Brush It Off and producing the music video and
working with amazing talented artists I’ve been really able to kind of dive back into that, 07:44 / and I
spent a lot of 2020 just coming up with concepts and that’s why the music video is so elaborate with all
the diffrenet people that you see, all the different storylines that are in it. 07:55 I really took the time
during the pandemic to put everything into this Brush It Off music video. 08:00 /

08:10 BLM affected me immensely I mean I think it affected everybody around the world just seeing what
was going on, and I definitely wanted Brush It Off to include and honor you know Breonna Taylor, George
Floyd, you’ll see the dancers wearing mask of some of the other victims during that time and I definitely
wanted to honor them with this music video so, 08:32 / you’ll see a lot of you know, a lot of people out
there advocating for what they feel is right. 08:38 /

08:58 – Growing up you know, you’re always kind of subjected to things like that as a person of color,
people you know calling me different names like that in elementary school and in high school you know, it
was definitely challenging, so I definitely sympathize with what’s going on. 09:14 / The Stop Asian Hate
Movement is incredibly important to continue to have that conversation and talk about um, you’ll see a lot
of Asian-Americans in this music video so I definitely wanted to incorporate Asians in this music video to
show people that we’re out there and you know, we’re strong and we’re gonna get through this. 09:34 /

10:13 – The Stop Asian Hate Movement really affected me as an Asian-American myself it think it’s
important to just continue to do everything that we can possibly do to stand up for Asian-Americans,
there’s Asian-Americans in my music video, and I think as long as we continue to use our voices, and
stand up for what’s right, we’ll get through this. 10:32 /

10:47 – I definitely draw a lot of inspiration from the fact that I think there’s still a lack of us in the United
States than honestly around the world, I believe that there is definitely space for more, and so everyday I
wake up I always try and think of ways to kind of evolve and you know, think of the next best project to
come out with. 11:07 / to represent for Filipinos. 11:09 /

11:15 – Your Time With Thomas debuted 3 years ago, and I really wanted to put my creative energy into
a project, I’ve always loved watching reality TV, so I wanted to create my own reality TV show, so it’s a
8-episode series on my youtube channel Your Time With Thomas, and it was a lot of fun we got to film all
around Los Angeles, if you’ve never been to LA this is the perfect series for you to get into, to kinda see all
the fun places that my friends and I go to, um my family’s also featured in there, I do also share my
coming out story, which was very highly publicized and watched 11:53 / The show has gotten tons of
5

views and we’ve reached and surpassed over 50 thousand, just this so I’m really excited that Your Time
With Thomas has succeeded as far as it has. 12:06 /

12:37 – You know I decided to share my coming out story on Your Time With Thomas because I really
wanted to empower other kids and other people out there that aslo struggle with that. 12:46 / Um luckily
I grew up in a family that’s very understanding and both my parents are extremely supportive 12:53 / and
um I know that’s not the case for every gay person out there 12:56 / but I think it was important for me
to share that story and I really built the courage of doing that and putting that out there because again, I
wanted to make sure that the next person in line you know if they can draw some kind of inspiration or
kinda glimpse of hope that it is going to be okay, I wanted to be that person. 13:15 /

13:34 – I’ve been able to combat homophobia in my life because um, I’m just a confident person when it
comes to that I just try to tune out any type of negativity, I know that there’s always gonna be people out
there that are gonna have comments to say, or opinions, but as long as you have that inner confidence in
yourself then you know none of that really matters. 13:52 / So I would tell the next person you know, if
theygot asked that same question is just to continue to speak your truth, be who you are, and you know
the world will follow. 14:02 /

14:19 – Yeah I would say to anybody out there that needs some inspiration to do what they want to do is
to just keep believing in yourself, and to go for what you want, before Your Time With Thomas existed I
had been thinking about creating a show and producing one for a very long time but, I kinda took a
moment to think, what do I wanna do, what do I see my future like and what the success of the show and,
now with Brush It Off, um you know, I would just tell them to keep going and to keep fighting and
believing in yourself. 14:49 /

15:07 – Um I see myself in the next few years of hopefully continuing to entertain, being in front of the
camera and coming out with more music, expanding my youtube series Your Time With Thomas, um you
know I have a lot of things that I want to accomplish, and so I definitely don’t see myself slowing down at
all. 15:26 /

15:47 – When I told my parents that I wanted to puruse entertainment they were again very supportive,
I’m very lucky to have them, they always wanted me to just pursue whatever I wanted to do as long as I
was having a good time, and you know was able to just take care of myself, and be successful, so I feel
like I’ve made them proud. 16:05 /

16:13 – Well I’m really excited with Brush It Off, we have more music coming out, I definitely love staying
in the pop lane, the song was inspired by Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears, three of my
favorite artists so, I definitely want to continue to create music, put out more music videos and we’re
working currently on the season 3 of Your Time With Thomas, um so there’s so much more to come, and
I’m really looking forward to it. 16:39

16:48 – There’s so many now that I’m so inspired by, I’m inspired by Bruno Mars, I think he has done a
fantastic job of incorporating so many different elements to his music, H.E.R., grammy award winning
artist, she’s amazing, I love her work and she’s continuing to kill it, Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat
Dolls I love, so there’s many artists out there that are in the spotlight that continue to crush it and I
definitely aspire to reach that level one day. 17:16 /
