Lesson Plan Title: Favorite Artist Project

Concept / Topic to Teach: Doing thorough and efficient research of a historical figure

General Goal(s): Teaching students art history while also having fun in art class.

Specific Objectives: My students will be able to explore different styles of art and learn about historical
figures.

Required Materials: PowerPoint, google docs, and art materials such as paint and paper (I will
accommodate art supplies)

Anticipatory Set (Lead-In): Students will explore different art styles from famous artists around the
world.

Step-By-Step Procedures: 1. Answer questions on worksheet about famous artists (this will help
students create an organized PowerPoint)

2. Demonstrate how to insert text and pictures onto a PowerPoint or google doc.

3. Explain how they will present their art piece and their presentation about their specific artist (using
PowerPoint)

4. explain the project that they will do that connects to their presentation.

5. create a physical project to show a demonstration of what the students should attempt.

 Plan for Independent Practice: Students will create a physical project impersonating their favorite artists
art style without copying the artist’s work completely.
 

Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set): Students will all present at a certain time to teach their fellow
students about their favorite artists and what they learned from them. They will also show their artwork
to the classroom. While one student presents, other students will fill out a form reflecting on what they
learned from those students’ presentations.

Assessment Based on Objectives: Presentation, Physical project, brainstorming work sheet, and
reflection work sheet will all be for a grade.

Possible Connections to Other Subjects: This lesson can connect to history class. They can tell their
history teachers what they learned from these historical figures. Some historical artists have a large
impact on world history.
