Week 3: November 29th- December 3rd, 2021

This week was somewhat difficult to observe the students as 2/3 of them were absent for 3
days this week and 1 of them was only here for 2 days of the week.
 Something I was able to observe was how the dynamic in the classroom changed when
certain students were absent. I noticed that when A.A was gone, the students were
more regulated. Sometimes this student will get into a disagreement with a student or
blame another student for something that he did, causing him to lash out and become
emotionally dysregulated, often ending up with tears. He is one of the bigger
personalities in the room, so it was interesting to observe how the students were when
he was absent.
 When the other two students were absent, one of which is quite quiet and the other
who is quite talkative, it made for an interesting couple of days. During my lessons in
particular I found that I wasn’t having to give as many reminders to stay on task/give me
their full attention, as one of the students moves around the room quite frequently,
going up to students at their tables and beginning to talk to them.
 S.P was gone for the beginning of the week but returned on Wednesday. I was able to
notice how difficult transition periods were for him once he came back to school after
quite a long period of time. This was the same for B.M, as I found he had a harder time
listening/following instruction.
 When all 3 of the students were absent, some students that usually always worked with
those 3 students worked with other students, which showed me how different some
students might behave when surrounded by others.
