Enjoying a meal and a flagon of
ale in the sunshine at the
courtyard of the inn is a rarity for
your party in Gloomhaven,
which has lately been wreathed in
a drab grey sky to match the
colours of its cobbles and walls.
How nice that the world sits at
the center of the fixed stars, and a
strong sword arm can fix all ills
But that this is illusion you did
not yet know, when your peaceful
friend Ilucido sits down with
you and grabs a drink.
“Have you heard tale of the ghost
ship that came into the harbour?
no one on board but bloodstains,
and loaded with crates to boot?
The docksmen won't go near it. I
have heard enough t pique my
curiosity, though some hints
from my studies have given me
pause to thought, I imagine the
dock authorities have wrapped it
up tight, but I might take a

Are you interested in coming
along, might be some fun to poke
about if we can get near it?”
Indeed, might be some employment
to be had to guard or unload it,
and your pocket is pretty tight
right now. Settling up, you all
grab your gear in case the dock
authorities need a little muscle in
exchange for coin, and head off in
the sunshine down Gloomhaven’s
stinking streets, while Illucido
happily discusses his latest
research and art endeavors.
Along the way, you pass through
a less reputable neighborhood,

that ale must be spiked, though
the Vermlings swarming

Suddenly, the daylight itself
twists as if being cast by a hard
alien sun, and the street seems to
lurch half out of the world. At
the square in the distance, a
figure in yellow robes and a
golden mask with a taunting
wide frozen smile now stands
motionless upon the altar, arms
upraised, and the air to its side
ripples.
There is something strangely
compelling and equally hideous
about the figure, and it is hard to
look away, but then the fabric of
space itself tears apart to its side as
