Natural resources are materials that come from environment. How many
families can we classify them? What are their roles and utilities and what are the
problems with natural resources here are the questions we will respond in our
development.
Natural resources are materials that come from the environment. Some of the
materials are used for satisfying our needs. Every natural substance that we use
are natural resources
There are many natural resources we can mention: Gold, silver, platinum,
ruby, emerald, palladium, coal, natural gas, oil, diamond, water, wind, wood,
manganese, uranium, sand, sunlight zinc manganese aluminum zinc
There are two main families of natural resources: renewable resources and
non-renewable resources
-Renewable Resources
Renewable resources are natural resources such as water, sunlight and wind
that can be generated naturally and at about the same rate at which they are
used. But some of these resources such as tress can be depleted if they aren't
properly managed or conserved
-Non-renewable Resources
Non-renewable resources that are depleted more quickly than they can be
regenerated. Petrol and Natural gas are good examples of non-renewable
resources. Non-renewable resources take millions of years to form. As non-
renewable resources we can cite: Gold Silver Platinum ruby sapphire emerald
palladium coal natural gas oil diamond.
Natural resources have a lot of use a play a big role in the development
of our
Precious metals (gold silver and platinum) and precious stones (ruby
sapphire emerald diamond) serve to make jewelry (rings, earrings,
bracelets)
The most exploited natural resource is oil because first oil is expensive
and secondly after its refining we get several products. We can mention:
kerosene (for plane) hydrogen, methane, propane, butane, naphtha, diesel,
fuel, sulfur. The sale of all of these products is an important sources of
income
The renewable resources like wind water and sunlight allow electricity
generation through hydroelectric barrier wind turbines and photovoltaic
panels
The global warming causes melting glaciers, water rise, and natural
disasters
Another example; the exploitation of uranium for the production of nuclear
energy can have an impact on the health of the population and on the
environment. Indeed the exploitation of uranium results in addition to the
production of electricity, the emission of gas and radioactive waste these waste
contains a lot of carcinogenic cells that once in contact with the human body
increases the chances of contracting cancers; also this waste can pollute the
water and are dangerous for all living beings.
CONCLUSION
Natural resources are available in large quantities and everywhere on the
earth. They contributes to the development of our countries through their
different uses. But it should be noted that the exploitation of these resources
are also a danger to climate and the environment. We must therefore take
precautions when we exploit these resources. It would be better to exploit
renewable resources because they have less impact on climate because their
exploitation doesn’t have greenhouse gases.
