Tram of the 80

According to statistics from last year, the metro system moved a total of approximately 1,500,000
passengers per day, in this system both the metro, metro cable, metroplus, tram, EnCicla and the
integrated bus network were involved.

In the metro expansion plan, at the moment its main project for the expansion of this is the
development of the tram in the 80-road corridor, covering areas which only covered the EnCicla
system and the integrated bus system, with the exception of some, being these areas Guayabal,
Belén, laureles-estadio and Robledo.

The 80 tram would have an estimated demand of 200 thousand passengers, 4 stations and
integration and 16 stops distributed in 13.5 kilometers along the 80 race between the Aguacatala
and Caribe stations. In this route, the corridor would have space for the tram in both directions,
green areas, bike paths, in addition, the two lanes for private vehicles would be preserved in both
directions, there would be bicycle loan stations, among others.

The project will be divided into 3 stages to develop the first one will go from the Caribe station to
the Floresta station both of the metro, the second will go from the Floresta station to the La Palma
station, the latter of the metroplus, and the third stage will go from the la station. Palma to
Aguacatala station.

The physical intervention was divided into 3 stages to reduce the impact on the mobility of one of
the main roads of the city in which its vehicular flow is high and constant during most of the day.

The choice of the tram as the optimal option in that place is due to the large number of passengers
that it can support, and to its average investments and need for space, compared to a metro
system in which the investment is much higher and it is necessary a larger space and at the same
time more efficient than an exclusive bus system such as the metro plus which covers a smaller
number of passengers, all this due to the high concentration of population found in that sector,
since communes such as Belén, laureles -estadio and Robledo They are one of the most populated
communes in the city.

Once this project is finished, the travel times for different people in the city will be reduced, in
addition, the value they will pay for that journey will be less, because there will be greater
coverage. On the other hand, the road capacity for motorized vehicles will not be reduced and the
necessary space will be provided for displacement in non-motorized vehicles such as bicycles and
scooters, and also for pedestrians.

Although many people are against this project, due to the growth in the population in the Borrá
Valley, currently the metro system if it is not saturated in its capacity to transport people is on the
verge of saturation, that is why the expansion of that system would give you the opportunity to
increase that capacity and thus reduce crowds, reduce waiting times, increase comfort and
increase efficiency on each journey.
