A DANGEROUS ENCOUNTER

In the village of Mchezomob, there lived family of a peasant farmer called Bidii Bora. He
together with his wife worked very hard to bring up their children Kadogo, Kababa and young
Kizito in the best way possible. The parents loved and cared for the children at all times and the
children loved and respected the parents. All the family members lived happily and assisted
each other.

One day, Kadogo and Kababa were playing with a ball while looking after their goats in the
fields. The goats were enjoying climbing onto bushes and eating the fresh leaves. Before long,
they were satisfied and after drinking water given to them, laid in the shade under a huge tree to
rest and chew curd. This gave enough time for Kadogo and Kababa to continue playing with the
ball.
The ball game was becoming very interesting and they really enjoyed kicking the ball. Kadogo
kicked the ball so hard that it went past Kababa and fell into a big hole deep into the
bushes. They searched for it for a long time. When they were almost giving up, Kababa found it
in the hole. He decided to pull it from the hole using his hands without looking carefully what
else was in the hole.
Wuuuii! Wuuii!" Kababa cried out loudly as soon as he pulled out the ball. Kadogo peeped into
the hole and saw a large black snake coming out of the hole. She jumped back scared and
immediately knew her brother Kababa had been bitten by the snake. Kababa was crying in great
pain but Kadogo gave him First Aid by tying his hand tightly above the wrist where the snake
had bitten.

She quickly took Kababa home and told the parents what had happened. The parents took
him to the nearest health centre for treatment. The doctor treated him and the nurse gave him an
injection to neutralise the poison. After sometime, he was discharged from the hospital.

Oh! what a narrow escape, that was !
