Monthly Virtual Tennis Training

NORMAL, Ill. – Starting Thursday, Feb 18th the Special Olympics and the Women’s Tennis
Association will begin holding a free monthly webinar series. Each webinar is scheduled to be
held on the third Thursday of every month starting at 6:30 p.m. EST. The goal of the webinars is
to target Special Olympics athletes who are interested in improving their tennis and life skills.

Every webinar will have guest appearances from the Women’s Tennis Association players and
staff. The webinar series will also consist of six different monthly topics, first starting off with
the Overview of the Series and Goal Setting. The following months will include topics about
Nutrition, Resilience and Perseverance, Mental Health, Identity: How to use your strengths and
unique abilities and finally, the Series Wrap Up: Review of sessions and goals and the
celebration of completion!

Anyone interested in attending the webinar is required to register. Once an athlete registers
online they will receive a confirmation email. The email will contain a link for each webinar the
program will be holding and a short survey. In the survey it will include questions to learn more
about each participant and their interests.

“We strongly encourage everyone to attend the webinars,” said Karen Wilson. “Attending this
event will improve your tennis skills, your day-to-day interactions, and build new friendships .”

Attending every meeting is not mandatory, however, is strongly encouraged. To encourage more
athletes to attend, a certificate of completion will be rewarded if an athlete attends all six
meetings.
