Essay 1 – UNSDG 1

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 1 aims to end poverty in all forms
everywhere. As a student who is privileged enough to have access to education, I will donate my
old books and unused school resources to organizations and charities that aim to aid the poor
who do not have access to education. This way, my old books and resources aren’t just laying
around collecting dust in a bookshelf but rather in a way are used to have these people learn from
them as I did. I will advocate for programs that will allow the creation of more job opportunities
in our country so that in a way, some of the unemployed people in our country have an equal
chance of getting a job and sustaining themselves while waiting for other better opportunities. As
a member of society, I will contribute to alleviating poverty in our country by having a balanced
consumption of resources and directing whatever resources that we have in excess to people in
need. Alone as a student, I may not be able to contribute that much to a large cause, but with
combining my efforts with the rest of the people who advocate for this cause, I think that it
would be impactful.
