In My Opinion Why

class formed in society :

Social class can be formed in society because of differences in social stratification. So that social class is
assumed to be a social group in a social order which is determined by a certain position in the production
sector. Where there is a group that acts as landlord, owner of capital, and there is also a group of laborers.
This is very related based on the function of each individual in the social life of society (Based on the
sociological aspect).

Based on Marx's theory, society is divided into 2 major class structures, namely infrastructure (base) and
superstructure (upper building). This is formed because the relationship between the base and the upper
building is a property right relationship which always takes the form of a conflict between the upper class
and the lower class.

1. The lower layer (infrastructure/base): According to Karl Marx, the lower layer is related to the
productive forces. The productive forces are the forces used by society to work and change nature. It
consists of work tools, abilities and experience of the community in work (labor), and the technology
used in the production process.
Ex :
• Strength of production: means of production, technology and labor
• Production Relationship (There are 2) :
a. Owner class: Employer, Feudal, Bourgeois.
b. Non-owner class: Slaves ,Labourers ,Proletariat

2. The Upper Layer (Superstructure) in Marx's term, the Upper Building is known as the building in the
cultural field, which includes human ideas or thoughts about religion, politics, law, philosophy, art
and ethics.

Ex:
• Institutional Order: Market Organization, Education, Institutional Order, Public Health,
State Law
• Order of collective consciousness (building on ideology): Religion, philosophy, art, cultural
values and various forms of social awareness
