Essay 2 Reflection

In Essay 1, I was not able to make revisions based on what the professor told me to. I did

not check the comments left behind on the drafts, which cause the grade I received. I also learned

how to specify my genre and community. In essay 1, I learned how to cite websites. Though in

essay 2, my references mainly directed to reviews, so I was not able to apply them here. In Essay

2, I learned how to compare in a more literate manner. I can apply this to other courses to writing

assignments sound clear and well-structured. I was able to focus more on what I needed to write

about. I would often stray away from what needed to be said, but thanks to the comments I was

able to get back on track. One thing I learned in Essay 2 that will not be applicable in other

classes is review citations. My degree is mostly based on numbers and marketing, so I do not

think I would need research reviews for that. The analysis of the same genre in different

communities help me differentiate and compare the things that they have in common. It will help

waste less time in what I need to search for in writing tasks. The comments from my peers said

that they did not know what my genre was in Essay 2 until they got to the second paragraph.

The main problem with my essay is sometimes my wording is confusing. In essay 1, I had a

similar problem. Also, both essays show grammatical error but not many. My writing strength I

would say is my ability to elaborate on the main topic of the paragraph. Both essays showed that

with the rewording I had to do, since I would stray from the central idea of the essay. Your

comments would see improvement on the content and organization of my Essay 2. A more

concrete essay then the last. The most challenging part was figuring out what I wanted to talk

about. I started off analyzing the horror films rather than the actual reviews. I was confused on

what I need to say. Least challenging part was the invention of the essay. I knew exactly that I

wanted to do something with horror since it is almost Halloween. I believe my identity as a

writer is more refined than ever. I’m more confident in my writing skills and know I can perform

better than this. Compared to my last essay, I felt did not have a style of writing, but now I feel

like I’m finding it.
